I have a Uberti Model P.  The front sight is slightly tilted to the left.  What is the best way to straighten it ?

First, where does the gun shoot?  If the gun shoots close to point of aim, there is nothing wrong with it.  It is hits off, more than is acceptable, a small adjustment of the front sight, carefully executed using a 2-oz. hammer and brass drift punch, with the barrel clamped in lead vice jaws will do it.  Usually only a very slight tweak of a few thousandths is needed.

To determine the sight correction needed use the expression X=RE/D where X is the amount of sight correction needed, R is the sight radius, E is the error measurement between desired point of impact and point of aim, and D is the target distance - ALL DIMENSIONS IN INCHES!

If you get too heavy-handed with the hammer, you might snap the front sight off, particularly if the factory silver-solder job was poorly done.  This happened to me with my .45 Colt Cimmaron Pistolero by Pietta.  I didn't want to heat up the barrel to silver-solder again and have to reblue, so first I tried several types of two-part epoxy - all without success.

What finally worked was to thoroughly clean the sight and its barrel cut, forcefully driving the sight back into its slot and securely staking it in place.  1000 full-charge loads later the sight is still there and the gun is now zeroed.

On my Pietta I clamped the front sight about half way in a padded vise and just twisted the grip with my hand. Slowly and surely, because I had read about Ed's problems before. It worked for me. I did windage first then worried about elevation.

... trivia :: ... Brownells carries a lower temperature version of " silver " solder.  i used it to put a front sight on a Win. 94 ...  i used a bottle torch and the solder sucked in before the steel went above blue ...  however, not sure that would be my first choice on a Python type blue ...

I generally shoot right hand, but have a dominant left eye.

So most of my italian clones have left leaning sight.  My method of "bending" the front sight are a "monkey" wrench, jaws padded with electrians tape. Just screw it down tight and "lean" into it. It usually comes to less then an inch or closer of center.

But Do Not try to move a front sight back after using this method.

The sight will either snap off then or fly off during the 1st few shots.
