Having never used Lee Liquid Alox as a lubricant, I decided to give it a try. I cast some 400gr bullets to load in the Marlin (Ruger) 45-70 and see if they actually do not lead up the bore. I admit I was very skeptical about using the LLA as a lubricant but gave it a try. I cast some Lee 457-405-F bullets, lubed them with LLA, sized them in a Lee sizer, then relubed them with LLA.
I loaded them over 35gr of IMR-3031 for a slower velocity out of the rifle. I only had four of them and frankly I was assuming I would need to scrape lead out of the barrel. I was pleasantly surprised to see the fouling was that darn 3031 leaving unburned powder all along the barrel. There was no leading whatsoever in there. While Lee promotes the ease of use with their LLA product, having to lubricate the bullet twice is tedious. For me it is sure easier to lube and size the bullet in one stroke with a lubrisizer.

Nice load....easy on the shoulder....The LLA worked. Granted it's only four shots but the stuff actually worked.
