Two Rook Rifles

A friend has been reassessing his lock up and has gifted me a pair of English .300 Rook rifles.

The Martini is in good working order; barrel has sharp rifling but the bore has 'texture'.  Soft alloy should do fine.

The break open rifle has a barrel in not such good order sadly.  Not sure what the future holds for this one.  Also missing some screws.

The real bonus is 100 new case.  I intend to make a push through die to size bullets to .300-.304.  The Lee 90gr RN bullets I cast a HEAP of when I had access to a 6 cavity mould a few months back should fit the bill.  Cast in 40/1 they measure .311 so I will fill the grooves with lube then nose first size.

Many years ago in high school I had a friend with a Martini style action in .22lr. It sure was a fun rifle! I'm sure that Martini rook rifle will be fun too!

not close to a real Martini ... but my little Ithaca 49 22lr " mar-teeny " is sure making a couple of 12 year old neighbor kids happy ... especially after I donated a brick of Federal plinkers to further the cause ...

.... 2.5 pounds of 22 smiles ... some enterprising young mfg. should make this slightly beefier ... about 5.5 pounds ... in 32-20 or 38 special ... $429.99 range.

Shot the Martini today.  Shows promise but I can barely see the sights as they are fine.  Not sure I can do it justice.

...don't make sights as sharp as they used to, Eh ? ...  might try ... for testing ... epoxying a scope on that rig ...  works fine on a low recoil rifle.  also cleans up ok if you later remove it.  a weaver one-piece base works well ... more area for the sticky stuff.

a couple square inches of epoxy contact is enough .  there is some truth to the * weld * in JB Weld ...

If there is not a law against such there jolly well should be.
