One of the things I love about revolvers

I love the diversity in revolvers! The photo below is three cartridges I have loaded for revolvers.

32 S&W long on the left with a tumble lubed Lee TL314-90-SWC. 2.6 grains of Universal Clays gives it about 800fps. Real pleasant to shoot from an old S&W 32 hand ejector with a 4" barrel.

In the middle is a 357 magnum with a RCBS 38-158-SWC. 15.5 grains of IMR-4227 gives almost 1200fps in my 3" Ruger SP101. And what a fireball when you touch it off!

On the right is the largest, most powerful revolver cartridge I have loaded. Its a 454 Casull with a Lyman 452243 245 grain (with my alloy) semi wadcutter. 30 gr of IMR-4227 gives us 1400fps out of a friends 6-1/2" ported barrel Taurus.

You can find a revolver for just about any purpose you want. And if you have a hand canon like my friends Taurus you can easily load down some rounds for easy practice or plinking. I'm definitely a revolver guy!

Another good point for revolvers is that for guys like me who have too much insulation around the waiste;I don't have to bend down to pick up my empty brass!

I agree,I picked up a 500 S&W and a few years ago so cheap I couldn't pass it up. I just load 12g unique and A 350g bullet. Delightfully accurate and easy to shoot. And there's that not have to chase brass thing that I love....

I like revolvers because they are strong, accurate, reliable, balance well, and they just look and feel so damned cool.

I go over this with my co-workers all the time.

Revolvers:  Power and Accuracy.

Semi autos:  Capacity and fast reloads.

They are all very young and only one of them owns a revolver.

I like shooting my S&W 686 357 Magnum more than my automatic Colt 1911 Series 80 45acp. Shooting small groups at 50-100 yards is just easier.

I pounded a 3” double action group at 25yards this afternoon with my 629 off of bags. They were probably going about 750 fps. Much much fun. I replaced the front sight on the 44 special Bisley and had to file it to bring it in yesterday. I got 5” at 50 and 2” at 25 yards and enjoyed it very much. Muzzleloaders and revolvers sooth my spastic attention span.

l am a died in the wool wheelgun guy, having been trained as a young lad by gun club members and neighbors who were FBI Quantico firearms instructors. So I learned Old School 1960s Bureau doctrine. Later I was mentored by a career clandestine services operator who had the firm opinion that the evading downed aviator in Indian Country didn' t want to leave a trail of brass for the enemy to follow. But now retired and getting older and feeble, I bit the bullet and bought a Beretta 92FS, a dozen magazines, mag loader, a spare barrel with locking block, extra spring kit and 5000 rounds of 147- grain ammo. I liked the ballistics which mimmick .38 Special +P, but one mag equals a wheelie and two New York Reloads. Don't need a 9mm carbine, as the 92 fired in rollover prone keeps a full stick in the head and neck of an E silhouette at 100 yards.

I recently had John Taylor fabricate a 16-1/2" barrel in 9mm for the Infamous Bunny Gun. Stay tuned....

FWIW, the easiest way to improve the trigger on a Beretta 92 / M9 is to replace the hammer spring with a "D" spring, which is rated at 16 lbs (Brownells part # 913100493). I did this on my M9 several years ago and it made a noticeable improvement with no light strike problems.

Also, for anyone who finds the M9's grip to be too thick, check out the slim G10 grips from LOK grips. I put a set on my M9 and also on my Model 81 .32 and they've made both guns more comfortable in my small hands.

I had a chance to buy a nice S&W tripple lock 44spec years ago, I passed because of the price, now I know what a darn fool I was.

I like revolvers, I shoot and do not have to chase the brass all over,  I can simply dump it in my hand.  The only auto I really like is the Colt 1911 frame.  Whether it is in 45 or I have the 22 conversion unit on it that gun is still my favorite for serious social work.  But, I do like revolvers from 22rf to 44mag. they all have a purpose and work wonderfully in the field.  Where I do not need to chase the brass out of cactus patches or from ground squirrel holes.

I could just never warm to center-fire bottom feeders, except 1911s.

Well, at least you went with an all-steel bottom feeder.

Unfortunately, double-stack DA/SAs are just too big for my stubby fingers. I like the 92 shooting SA, But I can barely reach the trigger in DA.

Intriguing Gun Ed.  I'll bet you are the only kid on the block that has that sort of 9mm. Variety is the spice.

Tell us how it shoots.

The variety of power choice and no restrictions on bullets shape and weight make revolvers my all time favorite.

However some current competitions are better suited to spazmatics (my uncles terminology). I must admit to shooting a lot of 9mm during the last powder shortage. It makes a pound of powder go a long way. I managed to burn up a half dozen different powders I had leftover in the shop. Everything from Bullseye speed to Blue Dot performed quite nicely in the 9.

I bought this beat 15-3(.38 Special) with bulged barrel a couple years ago for $120.I found a used barrel  on ebay for $35  and fitted it a few months back.A couple days ago I finally wrestled the frozen cylinder apart and install. 004 bearings to get rid of the cylinder endshake.

this old beater is my favorite pistol now.Its been shot so much the action is butter smooth and shoots just about any load well.

Lately an LBT 140WFN  and 2.7 of green dot has been a favorite.
