The latest Fouling Shot just arrived at my house. I contains interesting cast bullet articles by Bud Hyett, Ric Bowman, Tom Achesion, Steve Hurst, Wilderness, and William Cook, all active members of this forum.

Thanks to all who took the time to contribute and I hope an inspiration to others who post here to do the same. A high quality Fouling keeps CBA membership up. CBA membership dues sponsors this forum.

Nick Walker is compiling Vol. 1 of Tales From the Back Creek Diaries. Many of the articles are more than ten years old and may not have been seen by recently joined members. Eventually the plan is to have this available as a free E-book, but how would you all feel about Glenn gleaning chapters of older articles from the book and publishing them again in the FS?

I think that would be a great idea Ed not only for new members who might not have seen them but for us older guys who can't remember what we did 10 minutes ago let alone what we read 10 years ago.

Wilderness suggested that I give the name of the articles.

Hyett -- Profing Loads.

Bowman -- 32 Caliber Wadcutters

Acheson -- It Fnally Bit Me -- The CPA Single Shot Rifle Bug

Hurst -- Popular Cast Bullets

Wilderness -- Headspacing Rimmed Cases

Cook -- Bullets for the 7.62x39

I was going thru my old load book and found a couple of Frank Marshall articles and enjoyed reading them again. One was him shooting his Model 70 30-06 with Ed Harris at Wapwolapen, Pa.I hope Glenn would consider some of these reprints.

I would enjoy those old articles either reprinted in The Fouling Shot or as an e-book.  My copy of Speaking Frankly went to an old friend, and I guess I should reorder that.  The digital copies of earlier issues of our journal look like a good idea as well.

At my age I could reread each article every few months and it would all seem new at each visit.

My wife and son bought me a new computer for Christmas last year. Finally got it up and running in June. Sadly, it has no DVD drive! What the heck! "Those are only for old people." Now you have to stream everything. Please give that some consideration.

"Those are only for old people."

My wife bought her 'old person' an external DVD player/writer that plugs into a USB port, works awesome!

When my computer came with no CD drive, I bought a stand alone unit. Didn't cost much and has been working for several years.

I bought the CDs of all the Fouling Shots up to  about nine or ten years ago as well as the Speaking Frankly.  A lot easier to find an old article than going my stash of old Fouling Shots.

I would enjoy a "Tales From the Back Creek Diaries" column as much as I enjoyed Franks "Speaking Frankly" column.

Thanks for the encouragement. When far enough along we can make that happen.

I agree John, interesting articles.  One of my favorite bullets was featured in Steve Hurst's article "Popular Cast Bullets".

Go to Amazon and search for plug in CD drives.  Relatively inexpensive.  They attach to your computer via USB cable.  Work fine.

I have one in storage from my old computer, pre-2010, that didn't have a working DVD drive. I will dig it out and see it will hook up with a USB cable.

Thanks, Ric

several years ago I purchased one from Amazon. It worked exactly once. Trouble was it was a long time since I purchased it until the second time I tried to use it.

Ric,  an external optical disc drive can easily and inexpensively be added your computer.  I have done this with my iMac.

The 31-200L by Accurate Molds was a surprise. Where did its huge popularity come from? Lyman 314299 and 312299 show up in match results but I suspect most shooters do not pay attention to match results. The recommendation by Col. Harrison? Lyman handbook of cast bullets?

Buying Lyman molds (and other makers using cherries) was always a crap shoot. Accurate finally provided precise diameter control so necessary for success with bore ride designs. I wonder how many purchasers of 31-200L already owned a similar mold.

I do not have 31-200L but curiosity may win and my wallet better be ready.

Thank you for getting these compiled! I refer to them regularly for loading my 32s and other projects.

Would love to see someone do the same for Fryxells articles as well. I think the LASC site is down.
