What is a good lube to use during cold winter shooting under 45 degrees. Is softer better? Would softer RCBS Green or soft SPG reduce powder fowling (smokeless powder and cast rifle loads) during cold winter temps?

Shot some harder lubes the other day in colder 30 degree weather. Looked for a lube "star" at end of barrel, but noticed a lube "blob". This can't be right.

Yes, softer is better. In cold temperatures I always found the old 50/50 alox/beeswax lube to work very nicely.

I agree, It was the lube we used out shooting in the desert in JAN. Pretty cold in the mornings. We kids "mined" the dirt bank on Sunday afternoons. Never found a bullet with lube still on it. In summer  I think we used less Alox, but more beeswax & lanolin? can't really remember. But 50/50 works very well in the cold weather at 3000ft in our eastern mtns here.
