Scope Leveling

I've found "leveling" to generally be a waste of time and many times does nt ensure the vertical crosshair of the reticle is perpendicular to the center of the bore.

The vertical crosshair must be perpendicular to the center of the bore whether using elevation adjustment or holdover for long range shots past the zero range of the rifle.  

Place the rifle with the bolt out in a vise or on a solid rest.  With you head back toward the butt look at the ocular lens and you will see the reticle, even in the "shadow" parts of the lens.  Project the line of the vertical crosshair down and rotate the scope until it is perpendicular to the center of the bore.

Best don't by someone with 20-20 vision as if wearing glasses, the lens of the glasses can bend the image and result in slightly canted reticle.  That can occur even though it looks verticle to the person with glasses on.
