Powder or lack thereof

I am finally going to be allowed back to the range and so was organizing my powder and primers, I have primers but am a bit low on powder having 2 cans of 5744.  I started looking around and there is no powder I can find anywhere, all the shops here and Bass Pro and Cabelas are totally out.

Living in Massachusetts virtually no one will ship to Mass even if they had it.

What are people doing about the shortages?

Most are just being miserable.  Not expected to end anytime soon.  Hoarding and price gouging are partly responsible, but hundreds of thousands of new gun owners demanding ammo was initially the primary reason.  Manufacturers say they are running full speed to increase supplies, but ....   Not likely that there will be expansion of plants to produce more:  once the hoarders are stuffed full, then normal (relatively) supply will return and they would be left with unused excess capacity.

There is some powder available, but you will pay through the nose for it, just like primers, brass, and everything else associated with guns and ammo.

Sorry, just the times we live in.  For several years we had to live with the .22 rimfire shortages.  Apparently now they are back.  angry

That is what I was afraid of.  I won't be doing much of any load development and will ration how much I shoot except .22s

My club has biweekly matches but they require 50 shots for each, that uses a lot of powder and get expensive since it costs $20 enter and you can win a $10 Steak, they are more for fun and I always enjoyed them. May use my M1 Carbine for them since last spring CMP (I think it was) had a sale for an ammo can of jacketed ammo for $749 (I seem to remember) and it hurt me to buy it but I did and now am very glad.

I do have a ton of Trail Boss, well not a ton but 9 cans of it and I use it in my handguns and have used it in 30.06 and .303's, don't dare use it in my Trapdoors as the pressures are over 20,000 cup

If you are up for a bit of a drive, you might try L. L. Cote in Errol, NH. We were up there last month and they had a pretty good selection of powder.  No primers.

I am out of Bullseye, so I loaded some 45's with Red Dot, works fine. Bullseye, Red Dot, and TiteGroup are so close you can load the same charge and get the same velocity in moderate pistol and rifle loads.

Bass Pro has been getting powder,it lasts maybe a day. The limit is one pound per person, but that does not keep people from coming back in repeatedly. Then the shelves are empty.

Eutectic, you could add 700X to your gang of quick burners there and what's good is that it is about the cheapest one...if you can find it.

The only powders I can regularly find are triple 7 and pyrodex. They work in your trapdoor.

Qc 700x was not on my radar screen as I have never used it.

You are correct it would be in the same group.
