I'm sure there are more than a couple old farts on here. I've gone home from the range a couple times because of an issue I'm having sighting thru a scope. At 50 yards for example my cross hairs jump just a little bit. Like having slightly offset double vision. About an inch up and to the right but just enough to ruin my sight picture and concentration. Has anyone had issues like this? Have you found a solution to it? Any other vision issues you attribute to super annuation? Thanks!

My own vision problems were the result of growing cataracts. I actually found I was more comfortable shooting mod-iron than 6x scope. Cataract removal and a follow up surgery (YAG to clear up cloudy scar tissue) helped a lot.
A good optometrist should be able to point you in the right direction.

Vision was my problems, cataracts were bad enough that I couldn't even see clearly through a scope with my glasses. The cross hairs doubled up and irons were out. Dr. said he couldn't do anymore till they were fixed. It worked out very well, shoot Irons, apertures and scopes much better. That said can't get around 74 years, never shoot like I was 35 again. Had it done about 5 years ago and still good. My first thoughts were "Who turned the lights on".
Good luck on whatever you need to do.

My cataracts are holding off decently and the dry macular distortion has been manageable. I don’t get double imaging on reticles but the right stadia does have an upward bump midway across it. Open sights are still useable but my bi-focal for short distance is too low on the lens for rifles and too strong. I can use 1.25 diopter correction readers and see the front sight and target fairly well. In fact with the exception of reading they may work better than my prescription glasses.

At 76 years my sight is weak to where it’s a scope only and even at that I have a fuzzy crosshairs at best but with enough magnification I can still see the target and make decent shot. Shooting the modified scope class with the 6x limit does cause problems as all I see for a target is a blurry imagine. Also if I sight through the scope centered the imagine becomes too bright and hard to sight through so I now sight off to the side which darkens the imagine and makes the alignment of the crosshairs and target easier. I sight and fire as quickly as I can or the alignment goes to pot and if it does I stop sighting and rest my eyes for another quick attempt at making a shot. No way I can run with those with younger eyes but I can still manage to sometimes have a play with us geezers, fun times either way.
