I heard there may be a new ATF ruling on a proposed gun powder law if it gets passed.  It has to do with you having to report to your local fire department how many pounds of gun powder you have at your home. Anyone else hear anything on this?

The NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) has regulations concerning amount of smokeless powder you can store. However, realize that very few places have adapted that requirement over the last 50 years it has existed.

You are being trolled by paranoid scammers. Not going to happen.

All this info is available on the ATF web site. Your interpretation of the data is up to you. The language seems pretty clear to me.

Smokeless

Addendum. I have read the proposed ruling by the ATF regarding "gunpowder." The new ruling deals with explosives and the reporting of storage of explosives to the local fire dept or "authority having jurisdiction" governing the storage of explosives.

BLACK POWDER is an explosive (a low grade explosive), but smokeless powder is NOT categorized by the ATF as an explosive and is therefore NOT included in any future ruling dealing with explosives. The cornucopia of YouTube fear videos, posted by foil-hat wearing producers, is fear mongering and contains dire warnings about events based on misunderstood definitions.

A shallow dive into the matter will reveal the truth of it. Good reading comprehension and understanding of punctuation are all that is needed, but alas, the youth of today don't seem to have either. Hence the videos and posts with dire warnings of a dysfunctional future.

Black Powder = explosive and may fall under the new ruling. Generally however, the sporting use of BP does not, if stored under x pounds, as yet called out in the proposed ruling.

Smokeless powder is NOT considered an explosive by the ATF, and is therefore NOT affected by the proposed ruling.

Gunpowder is an all inclusive term that needs more granularity to be discussed, regulated, or used in firearms by sportsmen.

If anyone can show us the inclusion of smokeless propellants in the proposed ruling, please do.
