On Starline website 32-20 brass states, small pistol primer. Curious about other brass, since 32-20 started as a rifle cartridge. I know that small rifle and small pistol primers are different in the height. Also flame length, cup hardness, probably some more differences. Anyone noticing or tested things such as velocity or POI VS POA with favorite loads?

In testing for accuracy some years ago using a Marlin, I found the Remington 7 1/2 provided slightly better accuracy than several others I tried. I don't recall point of impact vs. point of aim differences at fifty yards. If there were any, I doubt they were significant.

Oops !!!! I have probably placed this in the wrong category. Also I read some posts on using different primers. Question answered. Just to clarify, I will match primers with powders, and try to stay with Load book recipes. Thanks

There's no difference in SP and SR physical dimensions. There are differences in the chemical/flame/brizance/cup hardness/etc - you're on your own there.

In .32-20 I routinely use SP primers until loads creep into the higher pressure/medium-slow burn rate powder area.

Large rifle and large pistol are different heights, but small pistol and small rifle are dimensionally the same. The only time you need rifle primates are for high pressure loads if the firing pin is not bushed. Pistol primers are normally OK to 35,000 psi in .357 Magnum, etc.
