What's the best way to stop my protektor shooting bags from leaking sand?

How are they leaking sand? Either slowly working through the leather or back through the fill tab?

If through the leather, there is no easy way to stop. You can thin Super Glue and paint the outside of the bag. But the secret is to really thin the Super Glue.  Acetone would be what I'd try for thinner and then first experiment only on an old scrap bag.

If through the fill tab, I Super Glue the tab once I have the bag as full as I feel it can be. Often, the bag will soften after several months usage and require toppiing off. I only Super Glue the tab after several topping off sessions.

When I first started shooting off benches and using old lead shot bags, I put a bread wrapper inside the bag before filling. But there is no easy way to insert a plastic liner inside bags such as the Protektor.

My old rear bag was leaking through the seams. I used a silicone caulk on all the seams. This lasted for a year or two. I then sprayed it with Flex Seal two years ago. This worked well, but it’s starting to leak again. If I’ve got flex seal left I’ll respray it. If not I’m thinking about replacing it. I think I’ve had it for 30 years or so. I’ve gotten my use out of it.

Why not get coarser sand with the fines washed out.

I fixed my leaking rear bag with J-B Weld. Looks ugly!, but it has held up for a couple of years now!

Thanks for the suggestions, It's leaking thru the seams. Maybe I'll try pinto beans. Will that give them gas?

My wife is Photographer.  Her shooting bag is like ours.  She uses Black oil sunflower seeds. No leaks and dense enough to work.

Ps keep the mice away!
