I am considering casting for my .270 Winchester. Is it worthwhile and what should I expect for accuracy? I have reloaded for it since it was re-barreled in 1972 to .270 so the throat is pretty eroded after about a 1,000 shots with heavy 4831 loads.

I have done a small amount of cast bullet shooting in my .270. As long as you keep velocities reasonable (~1800 fps or less) accuracy will be just as good as other cartridges with cast bullets. Just don't expect to get jacketed bullet velocities, or a load to hunt deer, and you will be okay.

Go for it. I did long ago (four decades?) with the RCBS 270-150-SP mold. It shot well like the.30-'06, took some work. I gave the rifle to my son and sold the mold. I see RCBS no longer lists this mold, but someone might have one for sale.
