I'd like to find some of these boxes like Midway sells, only just a whisker larger than their UB-36. I'd like to find one that would hold 500 .45 cal 200gr. SWC's. Any ideas folks? Oh yeah, Thanks for any help.

I use “Chock-Full-Of-Nuts” 1lb coffee cans! They are metal and hold up well. Actually any brand coffee can works well.

For the frugal bullet caster ( don't know one that ain't) I find quality heavy containers at my favorite local Wallymart store in the deli section containing a tastey pint of potato salad. Heavy, durable and they stack nice and hold about 500 pistol bullets. A steady diet of tater salad will gain you an ample and enjoyable supply.............Dan

I made a trip to the “Dollar Store” today and found some “RubberMaid” boxes with snap on lids that I think will fit the bill. And for cheap compared to those from Midway! Thanks guys.

Hey Guys

Cigar boxes of various sizes accommodate nice neat storage in most all situations. They are tuff, durable and stack well. Even though I cast, size, lube and propel a couple thousand projectiles a month, I am incapable of bulk dumping each work of art. Some of the boxes are thirty years old and have had reconstructive surgery more than once. A nice little ramp makes it easy to fill and empty, one slug at a time.

Gunarea:

If that press was a Hornady Projector, your photos would look like my shop. I have used cigar boxes for years to store & segregate bullets and cases. Best of all they were mostly free from a cigar store in the village near by. All kinds of different sizes and stackable besides.

I like freezer containers. They are square and stack nice. Shoe totes are good for brass.

Please, please, please

Please don't kick me out, I will try to be more sloppy. Honestly not trying to make anyone look bad. My Mother, the corps, wife, children and career have pretty much beaten the messy out of me. I am a product of time, situation and desire.

Empty margarine tubs hold the right amount of brass for a Lyman 1200 tumbler and half a load for a Thumbler UV 18. Headstamps, lot number, type, caliber, and specific firearm dictate segregation of all brass throughout my reloading process. Plus they stack and the lids seal very well.

RD, that Dillon RL300 is one of the first 500 presses Dillon produced. It has a serial  numbered tag attached and is the newest press I own. Mike Dillon convinced me to buy it during a phone conversation with him. Not the biggest blunder I have committed, but in fairness, I've made some doozies.

Not saying what I do is the way. Simply offering options to friends whom have shared more than one tip which has helped me.  Thank you very much.

That steady diet of tater salad only got me fat! LOL, Cookie tins that the Danish imported cookies are sold in are pretty good.  For a real large batch you can use plastic gallon jugs with screw caps, get them from the dumpsters behind restaurants, deli's, buffet restaurants are pretty good too.Free is the best price you have more to buy shooting supplies not storage supplies......afish4570:dude:

For storing .30 cal. cast bullets (weight sorted, not yet sized or lubed) I use the 100 round plastic boxes .22lr shells came in. When I got too old and shaky to be competitive at Bullseye Pistol I had 40 or 50 of those boxes - empty - lying around, and then when one of the club officers found how I was using them he presented me with about a hundred more. With a piece of tape on the sliding lid I write Bullet Type, weight, alloy used, and date cast. When I empty one I tear the tape off, put the box back in the stack of empties, and eventually reuse it.

Works real well, and is even fairly neat!
