Michael Barrett has made both half scale and full scale guns, and is one of the most interesting experimenters I've ever talked to. I've suggested to several people that someone should contact him and interview him and photograph his work. I'll but some pictures here to give tou an idea. The Maynard is full size, the pistol, shotgun, winchester?? and Hepburn are half size. Michael has written several short articles in TFS. joe b.

I searched on “michael barrett guns” and got a lot of hits. I've been reading this, I never knew that there was a whole hobby about miniature guns. How did I miss this? The pictures are very interesting. joe b.

Mike Barrett is a guy who's taught me so much about reloading and casting.  When I first met him, I was a pretty new shooter and he was giving me quite a bit of 'heck', as only Mike can. His wife made him come down and apologize to me, saying, “My wife says I'm just a big jerk". My reply, “You're not so big" (I'll be here all week, folks) Michael's guns are amazing works of art, and the man can shoot, too!

Joe,

I met Michael Barrett last week at the nationals. I agree he is one interesting person and I didn't even know of all the half scale guns. He was using a Krag that he had done interesting things to and an interesting approach to reloading with and interesting approach to measuring power. The powder was of course 4756. I should have urged him to share some of his novel ideas with the membership by articles in the Fouling Shot.

Did you say that he has had articles in the FS before? When.

I agree that if Barrett doesn't write something himself his activities would make an interesting article by someone else. Since he lives in Minnasota maybe Tom Acheson might be interested in such a project.

Yeah Michael Barrett is very interesting and talented. His talents go way back and his knowledge of guns. Someone should write an article about him and his guns too.

His wife just doesn't get his sense of humor :0)  I've been listening to her tell him he's being a jerk for years - I usually say 'Mom - when are you going to give it up.  You can't change him?"

He's teaching me to cast my own bullets.  Made about a 100 and he laughed and said 'you can take these home with you.... actually you should shoot those in the match tomorrow.'  LOL - they are still sitting in the box.  If he wanted me to shoot them they must not have been very tood.

FYI: if you ask him to make you bullets and you shoot better than him with them he will tell you to make your own D&*N bullets next time.  What a hoot.
