O.K. I have a brand new, in the box LEE .390 Roundball mold that I ordered by mistake. I had meant to order a .490. I reordered & got the .490. Meanwhile, what do I do with the .390? Pay the shipping & send it back? No. I've got about $26.00 in it with shipping. If someone here needs it & I mean really does need it, then flip me $15.00 & I'll send it to you. I just don't want to see it turn up on ebay.

.390 roundballs?

I built a shouldered Bullpup slingshot with a 40 pound pull and trigger mechanism. I usually shoot 00 Buckshot and 0 Buckshot that I cast. It really isn't fussy about roundball diameter. May you should build one. That is a .490 roundball in the pocket, they shoot fine too.

The Bullpup is not fully cocked in the picture. The slingshot assembly pushes about a foot more out and locks at 40 pounds pull. With a Red Dot scope on it now it groups just under 2 inches at 25 yards.  It is great for squirrel but noisier than a pellet rifle.

The guys at my club range crack up laughing when I bring it to the firing line. Then they all try it after they see my targets!

Do you have the plans?

All I had to start the project was a video my grandson gave me a link too:

The main part of the Bullpup I built uses a 36” aluminum bar  clamp from Harbor freight. Link:

http://www.harborfreight.com/36-inch-aluminum-bar-clamp-38184.html>http://www.harborfreight.com/36-inch-aluminum-bar-clamp-38184.html

I removed the tightening clamp, left the other side in tact and bolted/epoxied  the sling assembly to that. the sling assembly pushes forward along click steps in the clamp rail.  I shortened the rail so the last click was at 40 pounds pull with my double sling band I made with 3/8” surgical tubing.

Every thing else is hand made from aluminum and steel scrap, nuts and bolts. The trigger rod is 1/8” welding rod. The pistol grip is wood and foam is inserted in the aluminum channel for noise reduction and a hardware store trigger spring. You can also see a nail to limit sear travel in the photo, I designed that too. Trigger pull is about 3 pounds and I had to fiddle with parts/angles to get that.

You will have to study the trigger mechanism carefully to understand it from the video. I even added a safety toggle that blocks the sear.

It doesen't look like it's going to be to hard to figure out. I made a couple of zip-guns that fired 12 guage shotgun shells using 3/4” pipe for barrels. They worked incredibly well.

Pat,

Good luck on your build! Don't forget the safety, a half inch lead ball coming out of that thing will easily crack your skull.

Chronograph data and target would be nice. Resembles WW2 catapult used by SOE to silently kill guard dogs and sentries, also had a rubber powered crossbow which shot explosive bolts.

Ed,    http://www.youtube.com/user/JoergSprave>Link: JoergSprave The Slingshot Channel guy did the video has a large online library of exotic devices in the slingshot/crossbow family. You could easily spend a day watching all his videos. It was the smaller size of the Bullpup that made it attractive to me. Everything is really close together in this design. I haven't been hit in the face with the release mechanism but it is right there next to the cheek when I fire this little gem.

My biggest disappointment is the noise the Bullpup generates. It is loud, much louder than a pellet rifle. The thing is fun to shoot but it doesn't fill the bill for what I built it for. I had wanted to pack it when bowhunting deer and use it for squirrel, but is is way too noisy.
