Wayne. I have played with the stuff, but have had no positive results. hBN's purpose is to be used in the nontechnology area. Unlike coating bullets with Moly, I find the same process with hBN leaves a coating 1 million times thicker than the intended purpose used with nanoparticles. I'm not sure how to work with materials on the molecular scale where hBN performs correctly. I have bought and used an hBN modified product, but don't understand how it is done. That's as much as I know”¦”¦.Dan

Dan, I got the idea from a N.M. & Plama shooter, he mentioned a bore prep and bore conditioner. I asked the same question on the Cast Boolit forum, only one CB shooter said the had tried it.  I'm not sure if you could “condition” a bbl. with hBN coated cast bullets, might have to use “J” bullets first.

A friend of mine brought some 6mm bullets that had been treated. I think they were from David Tubb/Superior.

He had some loose bullets and they were very hard to just reach into the box and pick one up. They were so slick it took me a couple tries to get one.

Dan,  Interesting on the “thickness” issue, I'll have to see what the LR boys are doing, OR if it is a concern. I'm sure David Tubbs has some super secret  way of doing the ones he sells and does on supplied bullets .

Ricin Yakima  The address is TAI Lubricants. there is an e contact listed on my post on the Boolets forum,  under my post Boron Nitride ??

I worked with a friend trying out different dry lubes on cast 38sp bullets. He was looking to get away from anything sticky that might slow down loading a revolver for ICORE. He tried graphite, moly and hBN. It was applied in a tumbler with steel shot to impact plate the bullets. In all cases he had leading in the throat and on the face of the cylinder. After 100 rounds the lead would build up on the cylinder so bad that it would not rotate. I finally convinced him to try convential lube. I tried 50/50, BAC and FWFL. NO leading. Shooting the lubed bullets even cleaned all of the leading out and off the gun.

Carl, hBN, and the other dry lubes are not designed to be bullet lubes in the conventional sense. Conventional lubes preform 2 major functions. My take on hBN is that it is a bore conditioner , filling in the nano micro scratch's in the bore, thus reducing the space bore fouling can collect in, thus more shots, before a 2 or 3 patch cleaning. Anyway that's my take & $.02

Wayne - I'm sure you know more about it than I do. My friend was sure it would work. I told him I didn't think it would, but it was his revolver that he had to clean. He is now a beliver. He is not a bullet caster. I was trading range lead for bullets. It works out well for both of us.

I used it on a pitted old 32-20 bore. Sprayed it in the bore, slopped it around with a swab. Worked a treat. All groups shrunk by inches at 50. Even with it, the bore had a spot that allowed gasses to pass by plain based bullets. She now sports a liner.
