Sounds interesting. Have you tried any of these checks? Specifically .30 cal. rifle checks?

Charlie, the Gas Check Store looks fine n the link you sent, bkut they only supply 4 different sizes. In my case, no 6mm, no 7mm, no .41 cal. which currently are the sizes I'm shooting the most. (Do you think I should get out of these weird calibers?)
In theory, there's no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is. My fate is not entirely in Gods hands, if I have a weapon in mine.

I am a customer of Sageoutdoors.com. I have used his .45 rifle aluminum checks on the RanchDog .460-350 FNGC and they work fine.
I emailed the owner with questions about plain base thin aluminum, .008” for checking the plain base Lee .457-340 RN-F and he sent me a free sample of 50 cal. .008 Aluminum checks and they sized and crimped on that Lee bullet just fine running it base first through a Lee bullet sizing die. I was able to shoot the Lee bullet to higher velocity and get better accuracy out of that plain base bullet.
He sells sample size packs and bulk packs but gave me a sample 100 pack for free with an order. Fast shipping too.

Charlie make an excellent tool that really work well. In an hour I can press out 400 to 500 GC with out rushing or pushing to set any kind of a record. To be truthfull I don't really count but I knock out a 2 months supply in that hour. With my .30 cal Freechex II or III I can make .30 and 8mm checks by just changing the thickness of the material (flashing, signs or some thick aluminum beer cans. I'm not at the mercy of any vendor or quirks of this fickled government's screwed up market. (opps, wish I could be sorry for that opinion) I've sent more than a 1000 down range through my Chrony and not one has come off and hit it. In other words the stay on. They work and work WELL. I ain't going back to store bought. FYI The Freechex III is well worth the upgrade in speed and your fingers sake, the cut flashing is sharp!

I have used the Sage Outdoors aluma checks on my 45-70 gov,.44Mag and my .308cal and I love the results I am getting! ...Great company to deal with and a great gas check!
I not only recommend them but I also gave some to all of my friends that shoot the same cal's as me and all but one of them have made the switch!!....my one friend has to burn through 5000 Hornady checks first then he will be ordering Sage Outdoor checks! Jonathan

On the matter of cheap checks. Sage of Sagesoutdoors.com called and indicated he acquired lithographic material from Jeff another member in NY.
The issue is that Sage tested 1/2Hard .008 brass I sent him, and this .008 lith plate and found a more perfect check made from the lith plate.
This mainly concerns the 357 family because the shank is about .342. The 357 require the thinest material of all calibers.
Issues surrounding a commercial caster has had Sage trying to solve this material issue for a while.
My library search resulted in anodized cold quenched resin coated aluminum. That's the best I could do. No 1100, 12xx ,20xx etc type.
The stuff is manufactured everywhere and I understand it's generally .008 but folks have found .012. JKH of the boolits forum and CBA finds and supplies out of the way folks especially the .008 thick material.
Sample pieces from other shooters left me very impressed with crimp and stay-on ability of the stuff. Thicker materials such as .014 .018 .020 seem to have less memory issues but this field is far from where I care to delve into. Thanks to Jeff and James.

Charlie,I should have taken your advise a year ago. The Litho plate Jeff sent me works great! It had comics on oneside. The way Jeff cut it I couldn't read the whole strip. The .085 anodized alumimum was used on two bullets made from Lyman and Lee molds. The old stanby 358-158 WC. Used a Lee push through die .357 and .358. Using both dies pushing nose first and base first. The litho worked great. Could not pull off with finger tips! If any body knows where to get .08 or .010 C210 anealed copper I would like to try some. I can buy it in 1500 lb rolls. Thanks Charlie and Jeff

Hey Guys,
Jim, I am very pleased the lith plate material is working well for your .357 checks, I have been using this material exclusively since purchasing my first FreeChex tool from Charlie (.30 cal FC II when first offered on e-Bay some years back) and haven't looked back. I would prefer that it were thicker however it's properties a performance are so good I make my BULLETS fit the checks rather than the other way around. I use it on .22, 30 & 8mm and have also done side by side comparisons with commercial checks, zero difference (also reported to me by those who have purchased lith plate from me on Cast Boolits), of course I have to say that without an ecellant check tool like the Freechex (particularly an FC III, awesome tool!), no material would perform well, having said that though I firmly believe lith plate is superior to anything else.
The plates I receive for the most part have been developed & used to print papers, there can be some very unique plates dependig on the news or if they were for the comics, I have actually cut out various articles & have saved entire plates to hang in my loading room, if the SHTF & the world eds as we know it I can always cut them up for gas checks when I run short ;-)
I have to say I greatly appreciate both Jim & Charlie, the FC II & III tools are amazingl well engineered (FC III is the best on the market bar none), and Jim's adaptation & machine design to use the FC III tools for smaller commercial production is as Yankee as you can get and highly ingenius, quite a pair who have opened the door for extremel affordable checks & check making tools for all of us, thanks guys!
Jeff
