Ed Harris mentions an article in Handloader's Digest on the .32 French Long (7.65mm MAS) in this month's TFS. I went through my collection and can't find it. I only found a blurb saying that .32 ACP dies could be used to reload it. I'd like to cite the article in The Fouling Shot Index. Does anybody know where it is?

The 23rd Edition, 1969 has an article titled: “French Ordinance Revolver Model 1892.” While mostly a history article, it gives some interesting tidbits on the handgun and cartridge.

Edit>

Some mornings I am not firing on all cylinders. The title of the full article is: “A History of French Handguns” by: Raymond Caranta. I only put the part that interested me in my 32 Caliber notebook.

it's not the same cartridge the 7,65 m/m long is an cartridge for an auto-loader the mas 35 mod A or S you can use the 32 acp dies (french reloader book) but the cases are very hard to find and the transformation of the 32 s&w long needs a lathe hope i can help regards

Yes, and I could have been more clear with my post.

As a 32 S&W Long, 32 H&R Magnum and 327 Federal fan I naturally think of the Lebel revolver Model 1892 first. This one shoots the “8mm Modele d'Ordannance” cartridge (I hope I spelled this correctly) which is in the 32 S&W Long power class.

Ed was probably refering to the 1935S and 1935A locked breech autoloaders. The 7.65 MAS cartridge is marginally more powerful than the 32ACP and certainly fits the “Bunny Gun” definition.

for the 8/92 the bullet is an 8m/m((322) hard to find perhaps with a 32 wc hollow base you can seal the chamber . cases will made by shortening a 32/20. for the M.A.C 35” Manufacture d'Armes de Chatelraut” ,i have see one or two but never fire with it ,i never see news cases for this pistol ,all were self made . here this pistol is very scarce.it was few time in service in army during the indochine war and after in algéria but in very little quantity, also the"calamiteux” pm 35 machine gun fire the same ammo. Fiocchi used to make ammo for the 8mm/92 .Balleurope makes the bullets.

Cases can also be made from 7.62 Nagant. 32-20 rims may need to be reduced in thickness. The revolver shoots very nicely, no recoil at all.

The 7.65 Longue is more difficult. The bullet is a 30 cal , but the case you have to make yourself. You will have to turn away the rim and cut a new extractor groove. Not difficult, but you need a lathe.

Thanks for all the replies. I guess the location of the article will remain a mystery.

Dont give up. This is going to be just a bit harder than it appears. First I need to think in terms of autoloaders,I have the 8mm Lebel on my mind. I have all of the Handloaders Digests, just need a few minutes to look att them.

The 25th Edition of the Gun Digest, 1971 has another article by Raymond Caranta titled: The French Model 1950 9mm Auto Pistol. This article has good history on the Model 1935A and 1935S pistols. This is a very interesting article on the development of the pistols and their use and is well worth looking up.

Well, part of the problem is I am probably looking in the wrong books.

The 21st Edition of gun Illustrated has an article by: Oscar Tamenne titled “Shooting the 1935 Pistols.” I wonder if this is one of the articles.
