I found the primers

I appears they are all for sale on gunbroker.  It is within these dealers rights to profiteer from this hoarding caused shortage but I will not buy from them.  I would like to compile a list to make sure I don't accidently buy from them when this blows over.

Shooting is a hobby for me; I don't plan on fighting any revolutions, and I seldom have to shoot someone in self defense.

When I'm down to 100 primers I'll save them for the purpose of harvesting the occasional deer and shooting home invaders.

Money, Money, Money... It is always about money! I hope that who ever is selling and raping the consumer falls in a hill of fire ants on their way to the bank!

I don't mind the capitalism, or the right to make a profit from their investment. However making an obscene profit by praying on people's fears is called price gouging and should be illegal!

It is for gasoline... But since the dem's don't want us to have guns, the chances of getting anything done about it is non-existant.

Woah there fella. Often times items are started at a much lower price & the bidders are the ones who cause the prices to skyrocket. If people weren't bidding so high, the prices wouldn't be so astronomical. Look at the starting prices, if you feel it necessary to judge somebody. A lot of primers are started out in the $33.00 range

Have some primers on Gunbroker?

Here is a good example.   5,000 primers with a starting price $600, “buy now” for $625

It is profiteering.

I will stop shooting and use my rifles for tomato stakes before I buy into this crap.

Maybe it's time to break out that old flintlock and play with it for a while, 'til this fiasco passes. At least you can still go shooting and get the powder smoke fix. Great offhand practice. Like one feller said here, he's saving the last of his primers for business.

Yup, it's hard to call it anything but profiteering, not just on G.B. . I went around to the shops I usually buy from yesterday, checking supplies and prices.

The ONLY primers to be had were 209 shot shell primers, we all know what they cost.

These good ole boys had more than doubled the prices to $63.00 per thousand !!!

You should hear the reasons for the price raise, but nothing about the manufactures charging more, all supply and demand.

I have a lot of respect for the “Gun Rack.” This is the gun store I give about 90% of my business. They will sell rifle ammo by the case but pistol ammo, they have a 3 box a day limit. Even though it's in short supply (as an example) they sell a 50 round box of PMC 9mm for $11.00, and 45ca for $18.00. I went in there last week and got excited because, from the door, I could see the primer shelf was full. unfortunately it was full of Federal large rifle magnum primers. Even in short supply, Bill, the owner, was selling them for $30.00 per thousand.

It's just like when high cap magazines became impossible to find. Pricing went through the roof. I loved the next gun show after the repeal of the Brady Law when the same guys were now selling their $200 magazinnes for $20 and thankful for the sale.

Primers will be back on the market soon and we will reap the benefit of patience.

Hey

I have been keeping track of the folks scalping and since I have enough primers, etc. for a while I plan to not buy from rip off artists when times change.

Did the same with Glock mags before the ban lifted. Then stocked up about 05 or 06. I had a feeling it was coming better investment then my 200.5K fund (used to be 401K).

I hope the primer shortage is getting better. I went to the Eastman Gun Show in Macon Ga. this past Saturday Georgia Arms Co. had a good many primers. I don't know if they lasted both days as we were there Saterday when the doors opened. I had a freind with me that is brand new to reloading he got 9000 he had a big smile when we left he has been looking for primers everywhere. The price was good $30.00 a thousand. There tables was full of ammo they were the most popular vender there.

The primer shortage appears not to have struck in NZ yet as I bought some last week without trouble.

Honestly, enjoy Capitalism. You are seeing the unfortunate side of supply and demand. There wouldn't be a problem with getting primers if people didn't hoard. There wouldn't be a problem with high prices if people weren't willing to pay them. If I knew three years ago that right now I could sell primers for five to ten times the price they were then, I would buy all I could. Just like stock, buy low, sell high, American dream, apple pie, etc.

I just checked completed auctions this morning and primer prices on gunbroker are falling fast.

Lots of primers not getting sold.

Humm... I wonder why??? Too much greed perhaps?? Are folks that reload smarter than they greedy primer hogs thought?? Or did the supply finally catch up to the demand? I hear tale from all over that they are starting to show up on store shelves again.. Powder also. Maybe all of these greedy primers hogs invested back in gas and oil.. Seems to be the case the prices are going through the roof again.

Here in KY powder is easy to find (well, I know that one gun range has plenty of powder) but primers are nonexistent. I had to use a few LR mag primers that I found until I went to a big gun show here in Louisville yesterday. I found primers to be slightly overpriced but not rediculous. I was actually quite surprised by how little casting equipment was there. There was only like one booth out of hundreds and he just had a random assortment of lee molds for prices higher than midway or cabelas. Dissappointing, put I did get those primers and a pound of red dot for $19.

About 5 minutes ago 5,000 CCI large rifle BR2 primers sold for $185 which is not a terrible price...$37/ thousand.  There are a bunch more with no bids ending in the next hour or two.

The only place within driving distance of me just got in some small rifle primers but still has no large rifle.

Primers

Here in So Cal Jerry Berman & Sons the largest wholesale/retail around here has Winchester primers coming out their ears. This is a good sign that primers are back. Don't know price don't care.

I spoke to a fellow MVAC summer show a few weeks ago. He had been to quite a few shows in the past couple of months. He thought things were coming to a head, as the ammo guys business was slowing down. Don't know if the hoarders ran out of money or what. I passed through a few local shops that never did keep a lot of primer and powder on hand. They had been out of everything for a while, but their shelves are stocked back up. $37 per thousand on any size primer, any brand they had. I still honestly belive that it was the “non” shooting crowd that got us into this mess to begin with. The net is a pretty good tool, but like any, if abused it can work against you. I mean look back before the “net” was available to the masses and I never remember having a shortage or such a mess as in the past 10-12 years. I know several folks that like to talk a big deal about their shooting. But, truth be known I probably burn more powder in a summer for fouling shots than the do in a couple of years of “shooting". jeff

I feel lucky to have found 3000 CCI small pistol primers for $35/1000. I was getting really low (150) but wasn't going to pay 55 bucks for a thousand at a local gun shop.

Thanksgiving a year ago I bought a large quantity of primers (large and small pistl) for $19.75 from a major online source. I don't expect to see that price again (they were NOT on sale but just their normal price). However, I DO expect to see them down around $25.00 per thousand in a few months.
