I had some scrap materials from some work around the farm, so I thought I would take a shooting design from Backwoodsman magazine try and adapt it to my 100 Yard range.

So I figure this and that out, then got to work on it.

The only things that I have not done is putting some treated lumber “feet"on it and then paint it.

But here it is

Looks pretty nice, except the seat's kinda small. Maybe you have a smaller butt than I do.  :D

Devin,

I can put a piece of plywood there, or a foam pad or what ever. That is just the basic bench.

Attached is a picture of the bench after painting it with black barn paint. Not sure if I will give it a final coat that is green or camo, or just make it black.

Black might get kinda hot in the summer unless it's under cover.

After I get done building my foundry and my new deck, I was planning on building a shelter for the shooter bench. But black may be warmer in the winter.

I've always been interested in a bench that I could build that would break down fairly easily for transport, since I'm not fortunate enough to have my own personal shooting range. If anyone knows of plans for one, I'd sure appreciate a heads up. Most anything could be broken down if all the fasteners were bolts into tee-nuts, but soneone has to have engineered something nifty. -Don

I made the bench for prairie dog shooting from plans that Rick Jamison was selling years ago and it's held up really well and the legs unscrew for transport. A little pricy to build now a days but it's a good solid bench. A link to a site covering it is below.

My brother had one of those that he built, it would be pricey these days.

So far I have used mostly left overs from a couple of building projects around the farm. I would say I have $50 at most in my bench. The Cammo spray paint may push that figure to a total of $65.00

I am going to build two new shooting benches on my range, can someone tell me the correct high-th to build a shooting benches? These benches will not be portable, but permanently fixed in place.

31 Inches or if you are going to be above the ground like mine, I used 36 inches and built a decent seat on my mine.
