I stray from purity of cast lead. Tried some Barnes varmint grenades in my CZ 22 hornet 1-14 yesterday 2'x2' backstop only one slug out of five hit it. Then I realized their 36 gr but as long as a 60 gr bullet and won't stabilize. I'll try them in my 22-250 1-14 and hope the increased velocity helps. Be wary of them I bought the big box 250. It's not my favorite .22 bullet, but I've gotten good accuracy with the 36 grain Varmint Grenade in a Sako .222. You're probably right about increased velocity improving accuracy.

For a good time check out the MidsouthShooters Supply Varmint Nightmare. It's their 'house' brand and are priced real nice. They have a 36 gr that is excellent in my Hornets and .223s.

Tim, your supposed to keep the NOSLER (Midsouth Shooters Varmint Nightmare) a secret.

They are bad ass. In everything. 22-250 through Hornet. All weights.

I finally bought 10000 of them instead of dipping my toes. 36 and 50 gr varieties.

Barnes Bullets are lead free and so ANYTIME you decide to use a lead free bullet INDEED you will need a faster twist due to longer bullet profile. ALL LEAD FREE!!

You will need to get the 30 gr Varmint Grenade to fit the slower twist barrels. That is about a 50 gr length.

I found those nosler gummy tipped 40 grn bullets shoot well in my 1958 1:14” 0.223 bore cz khornet. Using something like 10gns or so of adi 2205 Best if I keep them seated right out. Shoot better than the old seirra rn 40 grns I havn't seen for many years. About time for its bi annual removal from the safe/ shoot /clean and hibernate again.

Still shoots most of them in a 1/2” at hundred. I suppose it is nearly a tight 0.224” now for over the years it's had some use.
