yep, and he further offered to build anyone else an ” ardito ” rifle, and guaranteed 1/2 moa ....
if one of our highly-paid cba roving reporters would do a research article and follow-up on the history of those ardito rifles .... i would read that article and probably follow up with witty comments ...

I would read the article, too. Or anything else by or about John Ardito. I like the way he thought.

John was one of the nicest and most helpful guys I ever met. A skilled machinist and clever mechanic. His shooting buddy Warren Gannon was another who is missed.

One of the few regrets in my life, was not getting serious about cb's early enough to have met with, talked to, corresponded with, and generally shmoozed with while they were still with us. But-- I like to think that folks like them are still out there. We just don't know who they are--yet. But hopefully, we will.

That is changing as I have recently re-throated a new .30 barrel with a long 1½º included angle throating reamer, and am using the same reamer to construct a nose sizing die in my lathe with which to swage a bullet to perfectly conform to the new throat. Mayhaps I should be doing this with an Ardito inspired/designed bullet too, but first things first.

I want to continue playing with Ardito's method but I also want to try Veral's method (seating a 1-diameter bullet into a significant freebore).
The funny thing is that Ardito's last article in TFS claimed that long freebore also worked OK. :D
