Anybody seen these? I stumbled onto the news while you-tubing gun videos. The Chiappa looks a lot like an M6 Scout Rifle. Break action, .22 rimfire under a 12 ga. break action type. Comes with 8 chamber insert/adapters to fire such things as .45 acp or .38 or 9mm, etc. Then I discovered the other guys making adapters. Also for break action 12 gauge. Can any one say “bunny gun"? I think the other brand was “Short Lane"? or such. They make rifled chamber adapters that look pretty good to me.

Interesting concept.

Probably and easier for the average guy than my Bunny Gun Fetish.

Not sure how close the insert barrels would shoot in terms of point of aim to point of impact or if zero would change if not indexed?

Sure would like to see some test results if anybody has a chance to try one.

Ive been looking into these lately. I think im going to get one here soon.

It seems they are not the best if you want to target shoot.... but they do seem like fun for a beginner who is'nt sure what he want to shoot or someone who reloads a few different handgun rounds and wants a rifle to use them in.

Its like a jack of all trades master of none type thing. I guess they do work pretty well though from what i have read.

also I'm the type of shooter that has fun shooting and being able to hit a 8"x11” piece of paper at 100 yards(with my homemade cast bullets and sub loads (real loads/factory, I'm happy with 6” groups at 100 yards )) so i may not be the best to listen too,

If you pick one up, please do report back with your results!

Some of the barrel inserts that I've seen are pretty massive for caliber, take the nine luger in twelve gauge as an example. After my recent wrestling match with the 9 I think an insert where you KNEW the case was the weak link would have come in handy along with the chronograph. Gp

If you used a short 9mm adapter in say a 12ga. would that reduce the report or just sound like a firecracker in a drain pipe.?? Frank C.

I did a search on this little carbine after last nights posts. Reviews aren't very flattering. One guy said that one of the adapters wouldn't even fit in the gun and when folded wouldn't fold tight enough to fit in his back pack. I really like the idea and believe it would be fun to own a gun that could shoot a variety of ammo But I don't think I'll pony up 600+ for this one. It might just get you first place in an ugly gun contest though. lol Gp

To put things in perspective for $600 you can buy a used, pre-war H&R .410 or 28-ga. small frame shotgun, which I did, and have John Taylor fabricate from scratch TWO appropriate handgun caliber rifle barrels for it, install decent sights on them, and bush then firing pin in the shotgun receiver, so that you have no issues firing .30-30 or .357 Magnum equivalent rounds. AND you still have the original shotgun barrel, unmodified.  Not to put John over a barrel, I had mine done some time ago, so you need to check current prices and these are only approximate, considering I paid less than $100 for the basic used shotgun.  But even with adjustments for price creep, you cannot buy a good used Marlin Cowboy .357, .44 or .45 levergun for that.

I'll be watching for more user-reports on this. In general, tho, I have not been pleased with the chamber adapters I have bought. I thought it would be neat to be able to fire 32 H&R magnum in my 30-30's. They “shoot” - but not usefully so, (but then there are also extraction considerations and a lot of fumbling around). It's a compromise - meaning that it does more than one thing, but none of them very well. Far better to just load 4.0 - 5.0 gr Bullseye, Red Dot, 700x, etc. in 30-30 cases under a 90 - 100 gr. Lee RNPB - and have an accurate, reliable, normal-operating-from-the-magazine rifle.
