Heet, I believe that it is.  At least I have always used RX7 and Reloader 7 and R7 as the same powder.  Common names and off the cuff notations are a bear.  That is why they developed the much cursed scientific naming system so everybody was sure they were talking about the same thing.  Reloader 7 burns ABOUT the same as IMR3031 .  Personally I like to see the load or at least some data in a manual before I attempt to use it.  If not the exact data then something close: Data for jacketed bullets, or a powder of similar weight to the one I'm using.  And then I approach it carefully. It depends upon when the powder was bottled and marketed. The first 10 years it was “Rx7” by Hercules, but Alliant preferred “ReloadeR 7” and now just “Reloader 7". Ric

The way it was originally done, the “RX” was written like the old notation for prescriptions. I always thought it was intended to be “Reloaders Prescription #7". My “Reloader 15” is marked the same way.

I agree with you on abbreviations.

It should be written out the first time, then enclosed so everyone knows what you are talking about. Such as Overall Length (OAL)

My other complaint is people who say ” Sent my rifle to Joe to have new barrel installed. Who's Joe? Full name and address please.
