I think your idea has some merit if it was made a permanent “sticky” at the top of the home page. But only if this topic could be kept relatively brief, basic and on point without it degenerating into a never ending doctoral thesis full of unnecessary tech. details for the purpose of impressing the reader.

Then, after that, if anyone would want to go further they could use the search function or post a question. I think that most all of this information is in the archives here by now anyway.

A good example already exists and I have referred  beginners to it numerous times:

http://www.lasc.us/Fryxell_Book_Contents.htm>http://www.lasc.us/FryxellBookContents.htm

The format is simple, chapters alone or the whole PDF can be downloaded, saved and printed, or just returned to and read online. The book is the basics and dispels a lot of myth in a factual brief manner. If a beginner doesn't have the will power to read and study this, the desire really is not there.

The format is terrific, a link page to a group of PDF files and a link to save them all if desired. It is not a discussion area for comments and debate, it is a book to read and the contents page is a group of links to well developed chapters.

A stone cold beginner interested in casting for pistol or rifle will be in a position to get started after studying the book and the beginner will also be familiar with terminology and method basics sufficiently to at least ask intelligent questions and communicate with experienced casters after reading the book. The book removes the “Dummy Factor” that stifles a lot of beginners.
