Just back from hospital yesterday. Had small stroke, my complete left side is numb and tingly from jawline to left big toe and I've lost a little coordination but am generally lucky and pretty good.

Please bear any typo errors I may put your way.

Keep to your meds and rehab - my wife had a stroke some 5 or 6 years ago - came through it OK. Medicines now are VERY good. Prayin' for ya!

I hope you got to the hospital in time to get the $2000 shot. I have had 5 of them for heart attacks and I think they are worth every penny. http://s203.photobucket.com/user/72coupe/media/MANGOLD011_zps80943d64.jpg.html>

In Italy the greeting words for hunters  are ” IN BOCCA AL LUPO".

Literally  in the wolfe's mouth.

Had a stroke in 2010,they put me up again in eight weeks, only a light dementia postinfartualis remains.

Thank you Giorgio. I am of Sicilian decent and my dad Fiorello was the first in his family from Falconera, Sicily born in America. The Italian language is a beautiful one. Papi called my brother and I  “Cicidi and Favi", I was the younger one, Cicidi Comudia. Translation: Little Bean Clown.

Gary, Glad you are back, most of us have not had nearly enough of your wisdom and knowledge yet.

Just out of curiosity, how many bears with your sling to date? The father of a highschool classmate showed us one day how to use a sling (his was leather), and hit a soda can 50 feet away on the second throw, the first missed by about 2 inches. I still haven't hit my first one, nearly fifty years later.

I am horrible with a sling!!!! I just do it for fun once in a while to remember my dad. If I was 1/10 as good as my dad was it would be awesome. He practiced by pacing off 20 yards and was usually 99 out of 100 at hitting Campbell Soup cans or living rabbits, squirrels and woodchucks. I will never forget the look of concentration in his eyes when he would hurl a rock with his sling.

That sling of mine is a very old design and originally a Etruscan design from before the time of Christ. They are still popular in the rural areas of Sicily and used by the poor to take small game and feed their families. I make these with Jute, Flax, Cotton  or Hemp twine and sometimes sell or barter with them at primitive gatherings.

You can search YouTube for slinging videos, There are many throwing styles and one style may really fit you best. I usually use the “Helicopter swing” or the very different  “Apache” style. My dad used the traditional 2 turn vertical loop throw that was always completely impossible for me. Quote from my dad, “Cicidy, if you had to hit something to eat, you would throw a lot better."

Seems to me I read somewhere about a guy named David that did pretty well with a sling. Isn't it amazing how many people want to call it a “slingshot?" Gary, my best of hope and prayers for you.
Fortunately, there are lots of cures and corrections for Strokes and Heart Attacks nowadays; things that ensure an eventual 100%recovery, that weren't even dreamed of just a few years ago. BTW: your typing, punctuation, and syntax are better than mine! Please keep writing. Bill

In theory, there's no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is. My fate is not entirely in Gods hands, if I have a weapon in mine.

Gary:   I just  got back into town and heard of your stroke.  I can only repeat what others have already said, take your meds, follow the Dr.s advice, and get better.  We all are pulling for you.  Brodie
