We've been having these matches since April but one thing I haven't seen so far is what you're shooting. I know the loading data you're using from the match report but up til now haven't seen what you're shooting it in. If ya feel like it post a picture of your match guns for my entertainment.

Here's my two Lyman Great Plains Rifles and my Uberti 1851. I started with the caplock GPR but switched over to the flintlock when I got it a few months back. I think I should have stuck with the capgun but I'm in now and not giving up.

If someone else had of done to me what I did to myself . . . I'd have killed him. Humility is an asset. Heh - heh.

The more you shoot that flinter, the more you'll love it!

There seems to be an inherent fear of showing what they are shooting. Mmmmmmmmm,.

Some of us are better at making holes in the target than making pictures. Working on a picture though.

Here's my .50 caliber flinter made from a kit bought from Cabella's. The kit was made by Investa Arms and came out a lot better than I expected. The storage box is cherry and black walnut. http://s12.photobucket.com/user/Beeboy01/media/GunCase2004.jpg.html>

Nice looking guns and I look forward to seeing more. Ed and Gary you should consider our monthly ML postal. Doesn't cost much and a lot of fun. There's a bunch of posts on here about them.

As an aside I went and visited my first rendezvous at the club I belong to and while I doubt I'll ever get involved it is tempting. Of course with the cost of things needed to play the game nowadays I'd have to just wrap some old rags around myself and choose an 1830s era homeless beggar as my persona. The bright spot is that I'd be able to play the role well since it's only a paycheck away from my 2010s era persona.

I'm up for the ML postal matches once the local range opens up when ever that happens. Don't know how well I will do. Been shooting at the Alifia rendezvous in late January held over by Lakeland FL. Most of the time I'm lucky to hit paper. The 75 yd buzzard goes home clean every year. Last year the frizen wouldn't throw a spark and I didn't even get a score. Ended up heat treating it with an oil quench to harden it when I got home. Working on two persona's, a 1750 French/Indian war settler and a trapper/mountian man from 1800's with the Hawkens. Been re-enacting for about 8 years so far and make a lot of my gear. Beats sitting around drinking beer and watching re-runs.

I can't get that rendezvous business out of my head. I was just looking at a 10x10 Panther Primitive pyramid tent. It looks like it would be a good option for me and that one pole setup has got to be great. There was a guy out there that had one and I liked it a lot. Doesn't seem a bad option for regular camping also.

We're going to have one more postal this year and lay back for the winter. I'll start again in April if people are interested so keep an eye out in early March for news of it.

I'll keep my eyes open for the postal matches coming up next year and read up on the rules.

Here's my encampment from three years ago, I have moved up to a wall tent since then.

I have a couple, The CVA Mountain Rifle I kit built from a discontinued second quality kit on sale for $49 and added a heel plate for field use and a fiberglass rod for bench use. Adding the the steel heel plate removed the damaged spot from the second quality stock. The very light  maple stock I stained with home made Poison Sumac stain.  My Lyman Great Plains Rifle 1:60 twist that I shot the matches with also has the aftermarket fast twist Hunter 1:32 barrel and a glass bench rod. The Lyman Peep is mounted to the tang. All the nipples are aftermarket #11 stainless steel vented HotShots that I don't know if are available anymore but I have spares in both sizes and really like them.
