The CBA is looking at different sources of generating revenue.

Feedback welcome.

I believe we do already pay with our membership fee in the CBA. Isn't this one of the benefits of membership?

The poll above doesn't seem to be taking votes. At least I can't seem to get the vote option to work.

Suggestions:

Membership levels allowing multiple levels of sponsorship with "features". (management nightmare however)

Raffles for gift cards at starline, midway, roto metals, free trip to NZ, etc

With rifle in hand, I confidently go forth into the darkness.

NO!!

This website is an advertisement for our organization. The CBA needs to be proactive for membership. This is one of our faces to the shooting public.

Bud,

My thought is it may convince non-member users of the forum to join the CBA. A 5 year membership with the magazine delivered electronically comes out to only $15/year and then they would also have the benefit of the getting the magazine. Non-members would quickly find out they will learn more from the magazine than they would by just using the forum.

I encourage all non-member users of this forum to visit https://castbulletassoc.org/fouling-shot and read the free Fouling Shot magazine sample available there.

Perhaps there needs to be some sections that require CBA membership to access.  I feel I do pay with my CBA membership.

NO , I am a member but when the so-called primer shortage came about our member started talking about  how to reload primers and make their own supply's when the one's in charge decided that topic was too dangerous for us reloaders and shut the thread down , that when I started looking elsewhere and did find a better source of info now only visit this forum on occasion and usually find very little comment,  just my rant I have been wanting to get out for sometime now

Thanks James

Well, I walked the dog and thought about this.  Have you considered just putting a donate button on the site header?  Then maybe once a year run a donation drive?  Just do the drive at a "smart" time...not before Christmas as an example.

Jeff, not seeing either the results of the vote or a way to vote. Tried Firefox and Microsoft Edge on Laptop (Windows 10), iPhone with Firefox, DuckDuckGo, and iPhone Safari. There is nothing to select and there is no Submit button.

Not for paying CBA members.

I would up the digital subscription price to $30/year and the paper price to $40/year. I would make membership required to use the forum.

We are not in competition with other cast bullet sites. They are chocked full with irrelevant topics, armchair experts, and mouthy opinionated "know-it-all" users who dominate topics with their opinionated rhetoric and shout down other users.

The users on this forum are generally older, experienced, and calm bullet casters who can assist other users with questions without resorting to digital bullying and shout downs.

I left other forums for this very reason when I was "asked" to leave for pointing out that a "Japchester" was an inappropriate term to use. My sister-in-law is Japanese and I know they don't particularly like that pejorative term. Since they (the other site admin) determined that term was appropriate, I used Whopvolver to describe a firearm and was informed that THAT was inappropriate and racist....and that I should leave the forum which I gladly did. Point made.

Bottom line is that this forum is used by mature, level headed bullet casters who are respectful to each other and, as I have experienced, very helpful and gracious to each other. This forum is an oasis. Our leaves may be falling off - but still an oasis.

So I suggest giving the forum a makeover with more (and current) photos, updating information like the Copyright notice from 2016 to 2023, making CBA membership a requirement to use the forum, and bring the CBA membership fee up a tad. Yes I hear some of you grumbling but you will survive. You probably drink at least $30 of booze a month or smoke that in a week.

Membership credits can be offered for those who submit articles to TFS which are published. There is a thought! I'll bet you get a lot more articles submitted and you won't have to publish my drivel any longer.

OK......fire away! I can take it.

I find that the CBA forum one of the few places on the internet where courtesy is common.  The Fouling Shot is a very nice publication.  The volunteers who keep it going shouldn't have to worry about funding on top of all of the other things they do for us.

I'm willing to pay a higher membership fee to keep the association going.

Start taking on ads like everyone else does. I will not pay to use a forum. There are way too many forums out there that have more info than just this one and are free. Plus the software this forum uses needs to be more inline with the way the forum is laid out to be more user friendly. The way it is now just drives people off to other forum.

Wayne, the average person strolling by will not be able to pull the data together to make that connection.  You're giving drive by viewers more credit than they deserve.

Aaron I think you are right on.  One in ten on the boolit site actually contributes and when those few do it is spot on helpful.  Case in point is Larry's responses.  But six out of ten pontificate on what they have read not from real life experiences.  The remaining three of the ten pitch one liners that that are at best pointless, at worse rude.  Our CBA forum manager does great job of keeping the snipers away from posting on this site.  I appreciate that.

So I suggest giving the forum a makeover with more (and current) photos, updating information like the Copyright notice from 2016 to 2023, making CBA membership a requirement to use the forum, and bring the CBA membership fee up.

Again spot on. I ran my clubs website for a couple years and it was a lot of work that paid zero.  There are thousands of man yours in the CBA website.  But fresh blood would help. Yes it could be better.  But its a lot more work than most would imagine.

Keep it simple by raising membership fees, by keep it current and get volunteer membership help. If people can't see the value that CBA brings to cast bullet shooting and pay the extra cost to keep it functional I think it's sad.

Gotta ask to those that think raising the cost is not acceptable.  Is it because of the extra $ they would pay, because it has no value to them or is it because of principle.  Personally paying an additional $10 - $15 a year can be justified for the value the CBA and registered cast rifle competition gives me.

By the way, my wife just told me tonight that my NBRSA (jacketed benchrest competition) membership went from $60 to $85 this year.

Sorry for venting.  Bud, I hope that you and the rest of the regulars will cut me some slack on my blunt response.  Bill.

An international group like this is always always at the mercy of inflation.  My Club dues went from $140 a year to $200. Why, I asked. First was the cost of electricity, as the coal plant has been closed and now having to buy power on the spot market. Fuel for the lawn mower and equipment to keep the two acres of lawn nice. Clay birds, target framing and everything else has gone up in the last three years.

Raising the dues is probably the best, $10 isn't going to make anyone drop out except for principle.

It is all I can do to make "Word" work to type, no other computer skills.
