At my club we have a drop box into which members can dispose of dud ammo.  Periodically it gets cleared out and I break down the ammo.

The time I found these.  I just wish I could find the person who loaded them and give them some pointers.

Tragic. What caliber is that cartridge?

With rifle in hand, I confidently go forth into the darkness.

"Lead bullets don't shoot worth a d@@@!" LOL

I imagine 6 of the 7 gas checks came off in the neck when the bullets were pulled?

I find similar treasures at our club, but never this bad!

I am the Range Safety Officer at our range and I find a lot of 9mm and 45 acp that look like this. It is just a good thing they do not fit into the chambers.

It's like a train wreck, I don't want to see it but I can't look away. What bullets are those, don't think I've ever seen anything that looked like them.

That’s just plain scary.  Whenever I’m at our club I introduce myself to others and do a quick chat to get a feel for their competence. Our club has a strict screening process and an inflexible safety policy but I still want to get a feel for who’s on the line with me.

That said, 99 times out of a hundred the shooters are engaged in the shooting sport and they’re comfortable talking about their equipment and asking questions.  Just friendly chit chat, not an inquisition.

Having a chat with someone you see shooting loads like in the pictures would have been helpful.  I’m a RO as well.  I walk the line and say hi to folks.  Heck I even had some cheap business cards printed up so someone can contact me if they have any questions.

I was up in Holton MI at a competition when a shooter fired a round with his cleaning rod left in the in the bore.  He walked away with a few facial scratches died within a couple hours because one of the cuts were from a piece of brass that caused brain damage.

My guess they are 308's, but we may be surprised. What were they Jeff?

I doubt that i Bullseye, looks like Unique to me.  Bullseye looks very similar to 22 LR powder.

Pretty sad all the way around. Sad that it will turn someone off of cast bullets, and sad that they don't have sense enough to know that it's not going to have a good outcome.
