I tried something today that goes against accepted practice. I brought some 19 bnh quenched plain base bullets along to shoot. Velocity was right around 1480 FPS. Lube was 3 to 1 Bwax - ATF. Wind was minmal. I dont know what the charge of #9 was because I load at the range. Granted the results aren't earth shattering and might not repeat but might give some the idea to try things that are outside the box. There were some strips of lead but no more than Ive been getting with dropped bullets at a more modest velocity and they wiped right out with 2 patches. Bottom line is just because you've been told thats not how its done doesnt necessarily mean thats the only way. More trying is on the agenda. I cant explain the horizontal or diagonal but Ill mess with the charge a bit and pay better attention to scope cant to see if it helps.

barrel whip can give diagonal groups.

i always think that means you are close to a good load.  a full grain of powder one way or the other ... or both ..

good to see plain base cartridge shooting results.

I've done closely spaced incrementally increasing 10 shot groups that have gone from left diagonal to vertical, to right diagonal to horizontal.  Somewhere in there a MUCH smaller round pattern.
