I agree 1886 it's not like a Mauser I've seen. I would not put all my trust in a SARCO description though :-)

Ken my pleasure to help you out.  You'll see I posted more on these bolts. Apparently Sarco has a bunch of them and I haven't quite figured out what the devil their use is.  It appears they are not complete and you use them for projects as the ad I posted said. In other words they are not part of a complete bolt and meant to make up your one off custom bolt. They do mention 98 Mauser, but we've never seen a 98 Mauser bolt like that, at least I haven't.

too short for a 98 bolt and the front stepped for separate bolt head and the hole in the front probably is for holding it in.Maybe i missed the rare FN 98 Mauser with a separate bolt head?Also no guide rib on body.

I don't think it's a 22 bolt. It's not correct for running the firing pin striker near the other edge of the bolt body and normally 22 bolts have a separate front section that is pretty long and doesn't rotate.  Pretty definite that is a center fire bolt.

I think it looks like a bent handle from a inexpensive Remington or Winchester 22. The bolt head is missing?

Isn't that a rear lug on that thing? Maybe for a low pressure round like a .22?
That's appears to me to be a safety lug such as on a 98 Mauser or  an 03 Springfield.  Of course the Springfield was in a slightly differenct location.

   Hello John,

Your comment about locking lugs is also the reason I thought that it was in process of having a rotary bolt head installed on it .

Appears to be a partially finished FN Mauser sporter bolt,I believe Sarco used to sell them.

Ken,

Is it possibly a bolt that some-one has machined the end down, to put a rotary bolt head on, such as some smiths are doing to convert, to the little mini center fires? I'm just guessing, I really, don't have an idea.
