Howdy, I'm Larry from Arizona, born & raised here. Moved back east to the mountains of far western Maryland& West Virginia in 1980, moved back here in 2008. I have been hand loading since I was 8, that's 55 years now stuffing cases. Started banging out 38spec with a Lee Loader while my dad pulled the handle on his old Hollywood. Been casting 15, 20 years or so, still a babe in the casting woods, but do love it.

Welcome to the forum from chilly New Hampshire. The wife and I made a trip to AZ last July.  We love it there. Let me recommend joining the Association, it's a good feeling to belong. Try the postal matches.

Larry,  Welcome aboard, it is good to have another caster from the only state that treats time logically leap and fall back all the time changing clocks when they are keeping perfectly good time.

We're glad to have you.

Thank you Brodie, much appreciated. Always have loved your area, spent a ton of time up there, & used to hunt a good bit in the Kaibab & 4 corners, Springerville area. In the old days, I think early 1970s, there was A "Cory" self serve gas station, down the street, behind the giant Lumberjack statue. Had an apartment in the back. My folks & I ran that station for a good while, I loved it, tons of beautiful college girls, flirting with (& more) an old looking high school sophomore. Yup, I was in heaven.😎😎

Wife & I were going to go house hunting up there next when we found our current home here in Sun City. My Wife has been yearning for snow, was gonna take her up your way this winter for a winter fix, (she was born & raised in Baltimore) at least I was until the Could hit ?😠😠

Agree 100% with you on DST, never could figure that deal.out ???.  Take care & be safe..

Mr, Gibson, Thank you very much for that invite Sir, I will for sure take you up on it. I"ve always wanted to drown some worms at Lake Havasu, & do some metal detecting..The same invitation goes out to you & yours also. Ever find yourself in this dust bowl of a valley, let me know, I'm sure we can  figure out some sort of rottenness to get into ???

Welcome from southern Illinois! This is a friendly place and these guys have a lot of knowledge. I check the forum every day but seldom comment. Check out the blog too. There's a lot of good reading there. My mom used to live around Ash Fork. I loved it there.

Welcome!  I'm brand new here as well.

I'm a long-time North Carolinian that moved out to Scottsdale in 2011 (took a job with PayPal) and then moved back to NC in 2016.  We loved Arizona! Where do you shoot out there?  My boys and I joined Phoenix Rod & Gun Club and shot there regularly.

My oldest son is still out there and working.  I'm near retirement and we are strongly considering buying a small place, perhaps a condo, in the Phoenix area, sell our place in Charlotte and get a smaller place in the NC mountains where I can fly fish and backpack.

Howdy Dr, I was born & raised here for n the valley. The rest of my family are from WVA & Maryland.

I moved to W,VA then to MD in 1980, moved back here in 2008. Man I miss the sticks, been thinking hard

on moving back.. As far as where I shoot?? Well, I really don't know anymore? The place I shot at in the desert

since I was a kid is now 100% closed off to shooting for miles & miles, chain link fence & government

signs everywhere? Some kind of "Program" ???  8 -10 Weeks ago, everything was wide open just like always,

Not anymore?? There is Ben Avery shooting comp!ex, giant place. Then Shooters World indoor ranges,

I hate indoor ranges & some 18 year old snot nosed kid with a Glock on his hip, acting like he's trying to

get slapped in the mouth?? Gotta search out another shooting spot?????? You all were in Scottsdale

I am on the other side of the valley in Sun City...

Phoenix Rod & Gun is a great club.  It's south of Sky Harbor on the north side of South Mountains next to the Police Academy.  They have a 500 yard range, pistol ranges, trap range and small caliber ranges.  It's inexpensive and the best deal in the Phoenix metro area in my opinion.  You should check them out:  The only drawback for you is it's a bit of a drive from Sun City.

https://phoenixrodandgun.org/

We went to Ben Avery before we joined Phoenix Rod & Gun but you just never know whose shooting next to you at Ben Avery and I feared for the safety of my boys.  Hence we joined Phoenix Rod & Gun.

I hear ya on the 18 year old strutting around with a Glock on his hip.  I witnessed that first-hand at the Scottsdale Gun Club.  I never went back.
