I have a 1909 Army and looking for a small game hunting load (javelina up to 50 yds) between 200 to 240 grain bullets.
Javelina only go around 35 pounds. I have a 452406, but am thinking of getting the Lyman 452432 or similar.

If mechanically in good condition, very easily. Check with your gunsmith if in doubt. The New Service was designed around smokeless 45 Colt ammunition, and the Frankfort Arsenal Model 1909 stuff just had a wider rim.
It is the one revolver I wish I had kept, but it went down the road for something else.

Ric,
I typed it wrong in my original post. Should have been 452460, as you state.
Will the 1909 withstand pressure of 11,000 CUP, which I see is the pressure for getting 900fps ?

I have no reference, or heard of, either bullet. However, I was happy with the Lyman 454424 with 6.0 grains of Bullseye. It shot to the sights. The Lyman 452460 shot low with the same load.

Look up my older FS articles. Most accurate load in US M1909 was Saeco #955, 255 FN with 6.5 Bullseye.

The old Speer #9 load manual has lead loads for the 45 Auto rim that you can use in the 45acp for a 250 grain Speer swaged SWC. I've used the data to load 45acp's with 255 grain cast bullets and it worked very well. If you're interested in Speers load for that 250 swaged SWC pm me and I'll give them to you. There were loads for Herco, Unique, Blue Dot, and some older powders some of which aren't made anymore.
