It's freezing cold and snowy here in Illinois. I have a lot of things I want to try out at the range and am going stir crazy. Just give me 40 degrees a little sun and calm winds for a day. Is that asking too much? Anyone else experiencing this bs.
Winter.....You Can Have It!

Yes indeed! In SD we almost got to 40 today. And it rained most of the time turning 6 inches of snow to slush. Now we have 50 mph winds for tonight. Then we go below zero for the weekend. Can it get much better? With 6 inches of snow on my bench out there, I doubt it.

I brought home a Belgian Browning Champion and all I can do is point it at stuff and say bang.

My son and daughter-in-law, my granddaughter and grandson-in-law, and three great-grandchildren all now live in Brookings.
I check their weather morning and night, then think how nice it is here in Western Washington to drive up the mountain to visit the snow and then drive home.

No snow on the mountains tonight! 50* on the passes, raining and all the snow has melted off. Floods here on the Eastern slope of the Cascades with Army helicopters rescuing homeless people along the rivers. Drought ahead!

With rifle in hand, I confidently go forth into the darkness.

Thank you for the gift, pat i, herself and I appreciate it.
I do not know where you live, but winters here in the Missouri Ozarks are quite mild compared to our prior home in Nevada's part of the great basin. It almost never gets below zero; quite a treat for us. An old measurement from an online source put our living room floor at 5377' above sea level and our new home at 1377', quite a change and coincidence. Except for the freezing rain, winter here is much gentler on our old bones.

Wow Bud! Your kinfolk are just 75 miles due east of me. I live one mile west of the meridian that tradionally divided east from west so I can say they're back east. Hahaha Been watching the weather in the NW and hoping you all were ok so far. I understand the "just go bang" problem. There is a new to me breach seated Martini languishing in the corner while we wait for better weather.

We got our 6" of snow last week. Been around 60 for a high the last few days, supposed to get to 70 tomorrow so I'm headed to the range! Supposed to be pretty windy too, oh well, nothing new. Need to find out if my new NOE GC mould will cure my 38-55 Marlin Cowboy's leading issues. Those .381" bores are tough to seal off.

After pretty much not having a winter for 2 years we are making up for it with 17 inches of snow so far and lots of wind and cold. I have an indoor range nearby but it is useless for long guns. I am pineing for spring already.

I'm about in the same boat. I live outside Chicago and we've had about 13 inches of snow with cold windy days. Projected temps for Saturday are 12 for a high and -4 for the low. There's a gun show relatively close Saturday but I don't know if I want to brave the chill to look at beef jerky and made in Pakistan knives with a scattering of guns and loading supplies thrown in to keep calling it a gun show honest.

I wonder if that's the Kane county show? It sounds like it. Like most "gun" shows it's like looking at an old sears catalog with the good pages torn out and used for another purpose.

On the bright side, no mosquitoes or ticks. When I arrived home this afternoon there was a package on my doorstep. Got a Browning Buckmark air pistol. It will be a good Indoor gun.

No offense to Floridians but I spent a month in Florida one weekend and this is one Yankee you'd have to slap around pretty good to repeat the experience.

Florida is my least favorite southern state. Way too full of urban people fleeing the northern winters and taxes.

Your kinfolk are just 75 miles due east of me. I live one mile west of the meridian that traditionally divided east from west so I can say they're back east. - That's my dilemma after living in Western Illinois, it took me a decade to think of my family as being "Back East".
Hahaha Been watching the weather in the NW and hoping you all were ok so far. - We're being flooded, but there's a road out riding the tall ridges.
I understand the "just go bang" problem. - I am a Master, far beyond my apprentice degree.
There is a new to me breach seated Martini languishing in the corner while we wait for better weather. - I love the Martini, Ruger #1, and Stevens 44 1/2 actions. Breech-seating is so much easier to load for.

I lived in Florida for years. It was nice to wear a T-Shirt Christmas morning. It was great to go shooting year round.
There are downsides. The summers are hot and humid. Bugs eat you year round. Out of a clear sky a thunderstorm will rain on you as you get to the range. Lightning is a real hazard, the shooting shed had a lightning rod. Guns would rust before we got home. We used WD-40 in them at the range.
The hotels on Miami Beach used to close up for the summer. Only air conditioning made summers endurable in Miami. My High School was not air conditioned.
We frequently vacationed in the Summer - UP NORTH!

What do you call a string on a tampon ? A Yankee
I don't get it but here's one for you.
How do you know the toothbrush was invented in Georgia? Because if anywhere else it would have been called a teethbrush.
