I shot the White River LR primers today and they shot the same as the WW and Fed. primers I've been using. The guy at Republic Ammunition said they were comparable to CCI 200s. They're not exactly cheap at 110 bucks per 1000 but they're available for the time being. The gun and pb bullet I'm shooting isn't what I'd consider the perfect platform for a performance test but it is what it is. They're available at Republic Ammunition. As an aside I ordered them from Ohio on Weds. morning and they were at my door in Illinois on Thursday afternoon. One thing I'll say for them, the chrome coating they put on them would make a Harley Davidson owner proud.

I wrote them about their primers.  Here's the reply that I got back:

Unfortunately, we currently do not sell directly to individuals, or to distributors for retail sales/reloaders.  All our production goes to our current OEM clients, and to companies that buy full ammunition or primer factories from us.

Sorry I cannot give you better news,

Drew

Exactly.... which is why I said I got them from Republic Ammunition in my previous post. They don't make them but, at the present time at least, they stock and sell them. 14 cents apiece including shipping and hazmat isn't a great price but considering LR primers are as scarce as hens teeth if you need them to shoot it's tolerable.

I had already mentioned at and earlier post that Republic had them. They are still too rich for my taste buds. The last primers I bought not long ago were in the $40 bracket. The situation with ALL the componants was on the National news concerning high prices and shortages.

I already knew Republic had them which is why I started this thread in the first place. I agree the little buggers are pretty expensive compared to days of old but without a little fire into the powder charge your guns become nothing but expensive tomato stakes.

if you go to cci.com they give you suggested list prices for their primers ... so you can see how friendly your current source might be ...

I just bought 5K of the SP primers. $300 plus $39 additional for hazmat, and FedEx shipping. Shipped within hours of ordering. SP primers there are very reasonable, all other sizes are high.

White River broke their contract with Republic. That is why they are for sale. White River wanted them all back so they could send them to Australia and New Zealand for more $ than they could get here. They told Republic to not sell them to the public as they wanted them back. But they did not meet their end of the deal to get them back so Republic is selling ll they have. You will not see anymore any time soon. .

Far as I'm concerned this primer situation is fueled by pure greed and quite possibly political connections.

Primers came today. I will see how they stack up against the domestic primers, for sensitivity and reliability.
