I want to buy a set of reloading dies for a .33 WCF Winchester. I announced on this forum about a year ago that I had purchased a 1886 Winchester and the owner backed out on the dea,l and a couple of days ago the owner decided to sell, and now it's mine. If you have a set of dies in this caliber that are not in use, I would appreciate the chance to purchase them from you.

Thanks,

Mashburn

I bet a lot of your friends ask you if you shoot any "normal" calibers. Mine do. smile

With rifle in hand, I confidently go forth into the darkness.

Aron,

Fortunately, most of my friends, shoot the same old calibers, that I do.  When you are into old firearms, you don't have to look at black plastic, made by Mattel.

Went thru this a couple of years ago for a friend who has a 33 WCF. will try to find the info in my documents - gave every thing to friend whose son was doing some reloading.  will update later by post.

Found document, apparently used 348 wcf die to resize RP 4570 brass,  Ordered 33 wcf size die Redding, Lee factory crimp die.  at that time Hornady listed 33 New Dimension dies but  never got any.  Used Hornady ND 30-06 die body to seat bullets, finally.  1st Lyman cb hb has full loads,  all this was done in 2020, so don't know what's available now.  Cast bullets from Lee 338-180 1R, starting load  19.0 gr 5744 gave about 1460 fps.  Had to anneal between 348 and wcf size steps.

Hope this helps, and maybe someone else has more experience to offer.

We dont have an extra set of dies for the 33 wcf but we do have an excellent selection of bullet designs for it.  Its one of my favorite cartridges for hunting medium size big game.  Its a cartridge perfectly suited to cast bullet use with full power loads.  The fact that brass is easily made from easily obtainable 45-70 makes it sweeter yet.

I wish to thank all of you, who responded to my post, and offered information help, in locating .33WCF reloading dies. None of it panned out, but my die problem is temporarily solved. The man, that I purchased the rifle from, loaned me his .33WCF dies. They consist of; form dies, trim die and a full- length sizing and seater die set. I'm still in the market, but not in the panic that I was.

The sad part is, about a week before I finalized the deal on the1886, I was on Ebay looking for dies and found a set of RCBS in.33 WCF with about 6 minutes to go on the auction. I immediately tried to place a bid and of course something happened, Ebay asked for my password and then would not take my password after a few minutes the password problem was taken care of, but of course, the auction had ended by then. And get the price was, 50 bucks. I'm still looking for dies, but not in such a rush as I was before the loaner set. However, I am now looking for a bullet mould, I have a loaner, but it isn't what I want.

Thanks again for the posted help,

Mashburn
