Here is one in the Gun Library at Cabela's. So you know, they no longer dicker on pricing. It isn't what it used to be 10 years ago when professionals staffed the Library and actually knew which end of the gun a bullet came out of. These new kids are simply retail help.

I bought the .401 Power Mag that you told me about. Now, I have to find some reloading dies or make some in my shop. I said I would never make another set of dies but, so what. The last set that I was making was for an 8,15X46R cartridge and just before I got them completed, I found a set of RCBS dies in that caliber. I think i may have one die of a die set but can't remember for sure. I never get rid of old die sets because the strange stuff that I shoot I might be able to do some of the case forming with them.
I really appreciate you letting me know that the .401 was on Gun broker. I've wanted one of those revolvers for years and would get out bid or the price would be unreal.

I had a .401 Herters for a while. I think I used 10 mm dies. Brass can be formed from 41 mag. The guy I bought it from swaged the bases on the brass I think. I cobbled up brass from 30-30’s. It was pretty ugly and a lot of work for a guy without a lathe. It was a well made gun made in West Germany.

I think they used the crimping die for a 10MM. I'm reading up on different people's processes of making cases. I have two gallon buckets of old oddball dies that come in handy when wildcatting or forming hard to get brass. With the weird calibers that I like to shoot, these old dies come in handy.

When you forget you have a die and order another die.......you may have too many die. I have some out there that I can't remember why I got them.

The likelihood of finding .401 die is nil to none. It took me 9 years to find 3 sets to go along with all my .401s to be handed down to my grandkids. Without the dies their interest would wain quickly,
Most of the ones you find will be really high, like $200 or more. I was able to buy two CH sets and one Herters. Brass is worse, but more plentiful.
My experience has been that anything less than original brass is a lot of work, as in time spent on the lathe.
Let me see if I have some extra dies.

i HAVE DIE SETS THAT I BOUGHAT BECAUSE I WAS PLANNING ON BUILDING A RIFLE IN THAT CALIBER, BUT THE SAD PART IS, ABOUT HAVE OF THOSE DIE SETS ARE STILL ORPHANS, I HAVEN'T GOTTEN AROUND TO BUILDING RIFLES FOR ALL OF THEM.
