I regularly pickup unfired 22lr's at the range. Seems people are too lazy to pick up ammo that was dropped or didn't fire. I have a powder can full.

Yesterday there was half a box of un fired 22s laying there. No firing pin strikes, just bent bullets. Useless to be tried again. The other thing they had in common is there are all winchesters. Is it the ammo or the gun? maybe a combo?

I have a giant plastic jar that used to hold mayonnaise in a previous life.  It now holds the 22 LR rounds that my son and I have picked up through the years.

We started when he was 6 years old. He turned 36 this year.  The jar now weighs 7.5 lbs.  It is amazing what people will leave behind.

Another jar holds the other calibers we have picked up:  223, 7.62x39, 308, shotgun shells, you name it.

I've been picking up live ammo for years, break them down and salvage brass, lead and primers. Last year the count was a little over 1200.

In the 70’s a lot of us went out looking for “duds” 😉.

I never fire "unfired" centerfire range finds for fear that they may be reloaded. Just doesn't sound like a good idea.

I cherish all my firearms too much.

I don't either with center fire stuff. 22s I clean up, lube and shoot in my ruger single six.

if the 223/556 has a crimped primer i don't hesitate one bit to fire them or anything else that has a crimped primer.

We just put all that junk in ammo cans and take to Fort Bragg so the EOD teams can blow it up. I would NEVER fire ammo found on the range.

What amazes me more is all the brass left behind. Exotic brass. Expensive brass. 45-70, 45-90, 10mm, 41AE, 30 Luger, 43 Spanish, and the list goes on....

With rifle in hand, I confidently go forth into the darkness.
