Just for the heck of of it here's a picture of my home until Sunday. I'm at a rendezvous in Iowa. No shooting at this one but I'll definitely enjoy the R&R.

Do you have ice for the whisky?
I never touch the stuff but do have an abundant supply for my rum. Now that you have me thinking about it.......

With the southeast winds, I think I actually can smell the wood smoke in SD. So where is this rendezvous?

About 15 miles east of Muscatine in a beautiful park. This is one of my favorites. Laid back with really pleasant people. I've read in travel guides all the grouchy people in Iowa congregate in Iowa City for some strange reason.

Thanks and enjoy your weekend. We have 30 people running around here with primitive bows this weekend. The woods walk means a lot of looking for missing arrows.

Sure reminds me of my years in the Boy Scouts! We'd go comping once a month, year-round. Usually wall tents, no floors. It was really something, oftentimes earning merit badges. Winter camping was especially interesting.
Our troop went to the 1960 World Jambiree in Colorado Springs. Met a lot of guys from America and all over the world. We took the train west from St. Paul, over to Glacier NP, south through Yellowstone NP and then south to Colorado. We did paper drives for two years prior to pay for the trip. Huge memories!
Seeing your photo almost makes me want to get out and camp for a weekend. Even my 56-year old son today is an "eager camper".
I think I have a pup tent out in the garage somewhere...

My wife used to make us a real nice camp at rendezvous. He is our camp in Loudoun County Virginia with the Opequon Longrifles at a summer rendezvous.

With rifle in hand, I confidently go forth into the darkness.

Nice looking camp Aaron and I won't be at Ft. Atkinson Paul. My next one is Ft. Obie and after that a semi private one I got invited to this past weekend near Galesburg IL. I'll probably see if I can interest a couple of guys in one or two winter camps later in the year but thats always spotty.

I love winter camps. My most memorable was in the Shenandoah foothills in February. It got down to 8 degrees. With it that cold, there was no wet area. All the ground was frozen solid and our moccasin never got wet. My face froze to the pillow when I drooled one night and it froze solid. Some of the guys had stoves in their tents and became real popular real fast. I bought me a small stove that year so I wouldn't freeze to death at the next winter event. Winter events tend to be real colorful with all the Capote in use.
We had to put our water and food stuff in a cooler to keep it from freezing!
That photo is from 1990 I think at the winter camp mentioned above. It was near skyline drive in Virginia. I am on the left trying to toast my feet and the guy next to me is Clay. I forgot his last name. He was one of the gunsmiths at Colonial Williamsburg. He lived the dream. I traded him for a nice long-hunter knife he made on the forge there. Still have that beast. Man....that was a good camp.
With rifle in hand, I confidently go forth into the darkness.

I went to the Rendezvous and Native American Fest. held in CT every year they had it. Also Burnt toe and Frozen Toe Rifle frolick. Won a Skunk skin that graced my camp for many years. Soo much fun!

It's nice to see the varying conversations and interests being posted lately. Maybe it'll be enough to let people know this forum isn't just for cast bullets and get them posting.

Hey lardass that's what shooting's supposed to be all about. Good times with friends and jabbing at each other. What's that in your hand?
( just kidding about the lardass thing......a little)
