Hello again,
I have a question that I hope some of you older readers can answer for me or perhaps some of you who are well read in Remington history and not old at all. I myself am working on 76. My question is, I have a Remington factory display case that I got from an old hardware store , here in town, where I live now. If it is as old as I think it is ,the first rifle that I ever owned, bought by my dad for me in either 1952 or 1953 when I was in the 3rd. grade, was on display in this case. I know definitely that my little Stevens Model 15A was purchased from that store.
Here is a description of the case. It is 4 ft. wide and 24 inches deep and between 7 and 8 ft. tall. The bottom section of the case holds17 guns in the upright position. they are placed in a oval around the bottom of the case. The bottom of the case is plastic and 3 dimensionally shaped with butt stock recesses and the Remington factory logo. This part of the case holds 17 rifles and has 2 sliding glass doors. The upper part of the case displays seven rifles. The rifles are displayed horizontally in a stair stepped rack from lower front to the top of the back. The glass door over this upper part raises up to access the firearms. There is a plastic lense across the top of the case with a fluorescent light behind. When lit, it reads Remington Guns across and also Dupoint. That same light also lights up the inside of the rifle display area. The back of the interion case is fake wood grain. The case itself is made of steel. There was also a shelf attached to the right of the display case of approximately the same size and the same logo on it. It was shelved for ammunition and two doors on the bottom for storage. I didn't take this, although I wish now that I had. At the time I didn't have room for both.
If this case is as old as I think it is, I will then know that my first rifle, which I still have, was bought by my Dad from this case. I greatly thank anyone who can help me determine the age of this display case.
I ONLY GOT TWO RESPONSES ON THIS ITEM SO I GUESS IT IS REALLY RARE OR THERE ISN'T ENOUGH PEOPLE OLD ENOUGH TO HAVE SEEN ONE. I HAVE COME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT IT IS THE DISPLAY CASE THAT MY FIRST RIFLE WAS DISPLAYED IN. I'll LEAVE THIS UP A DAY OR SO MORE AND THEN DELETE IT.
Thanks in advance,
Mashburn
