Has anyone shot cast bullets in a Remington 740, 742, or 7400 self loading rifle? I know they have a reputation for wearing quickly and having poor accuracy, but I was wondering if lighter cast bullet loads might help extend the life of one of these rifles of I can find one. Being semiautomatic this might not work well, but I am curious if any of you have tried it.

I did 25 years ago based on data from  a George Nonte article in Handloader and IIRC about 2.5" at 100 yards.I shot about 200 rounds before I sold it with no issues.it was 30-06. I was running a 180sp RCBS at about 1900 fps with I think 3031 ?

I can dig up the article if you want.

If you have access to that article that would be great. I'm most interested in a .280 Remington clambering, but 30-06 seems to be the most commonly available.
