I got my Pro-Melt back from RCBS on Wednesday.  Put it back together and added the N.O.E. mold guide. It didn't work too well together. Not because there was anything wrong with the N.O.E. mold guide, but the RCBS "mold guide bar" came back BENT. It's damn hard to adjust the N.O.E. mold guide when you have hold the mold cock-eyed.

Have to call RCBS tomorrow and spend another HOUR on the phone with vista outdoors female cust srvc reps that no nothing but how to prevent you from getting through to RCBS. After 140bucks to fix my Pot, you'd think they would at least NOT damage parts they didn't replace. A month and now I got to wait still longer for a replacement part. I'll probably get charged for this too.

Seems like I got a curse on my bullet casting.  Thank the GOOD LORD the old MAG-20 is working just great, now that the thermostat is turned up.

..ha... reminds me that i poured my first castings into a lyman 225438 by melting some kinda lead in a spoon on my mom's stove burner ...

looks like you are now about even with my early equipment ...  and maybe just as excited !!

... or not ...

I was excited, Heck Ya. But it seems to be always something. Fired up the 'ol MAG-20. Got the old #358477 out, cleaned it up, paired it with a "new" #452490 2cav and #429667 and  started pouring. Well.... the #358477 needs a new sprue plate and the #452490 definitely  needs a longer break in period. However the #429667 was casting pretty much perfect bullets with every pour.

I just can't seem to use different mold style/sizes together anymore. The arthritis in my hands/wrists is a pain in more ways than one.

After spending $140.00 you would think everything to be as new. Bending it back should be easy though.

The cheap plastic on/ off switch failed on my unit. I drilled out rivets and bypassed switch by unplugging and switching wires.

I called RCBS, Had to wade my way through that BLASTED vista outdoors. It only took 10 minutes to reach the guy that actually fixed my pot. He's sending me a new "mold guide rod".

While looking through the RCBS website, while I was on hold, I discovered the instructions for the new pro-melt-2. It has a 2 year limited Warranty. That's all 2 years. And if ya got to send it back UNDER WARRANTY you still have to send them 10bucks to cover return shipping. It's listed at 270bucks from MIDWAY. And it's only good for 2yrs ? I won't be buying one under those constraints. Might as well buy a Lee pot. At least with those you can buy parts and fix it your own self.

The  best way to contact RCBS is by eMail to their customer service from their website.I've always gotten a quick response that way.

That has been my experience also. I have emailed them and asked that they call me which works about 1/2 of the time.

I find it better to talk to a REAL PERSON who understands what you're saying. I still think face to face or at least voice to voice is the BEST method of communication there is. Even if the blasted kids can't seem to absorbe the spoken word face to face very well. It's as if they can't SEE THE WORDS THEY CAN'T UNDERSTAND.

I bought a new Pro-Melt about three years ago.  The thermostat failed in the first hour of use.  I had no problem getting a new one and they also sent a new heating element I didn't need.  The thermostat is German so thought it would be good and just had a bad one to start.  The new thermostat kept temps within about +/- 80 degrees but I use a PID anyway so it didn't really matter.  RCBS sent me another thermostat but I won't bother to put it in.  I had good customer service from them, but it looks like the good old days are over.  I imagine their new pot is chinese anyway.
