Some years ago I bought a Savage Bolt Action in 223. The rifle was extremely accurate but had a wondering zero. It had an injected molded stock and while it was not affected by moisture, it sure was by changes in temperature. At the time I had other things on my agenda and I sold it. I have been thinking about it and wonder if I could have done something to save it: it was after all a tack driver.

If you were wanting to shoot in competition, return to Savage for a factory laminated stock and glass bed. If not, then get an aftermarket laminated stock and glass bed.

The alternative is to epoxy a small block Chevy push rod or two in the forend, overlapping. One thru the pistol grip is a big help also, as is filling the butt voids.

At the time I considered glass bedding, maybe with steel rod included, but wasn't sure if epoxy would give a good bond with that plastic. Anyway, at the time I was in and out of the VA Hospital and didn't have the time to fool with it.Just yesterday I found a U Tube video on the internet where a man used something called GLAZE COAT to bed a plastic stock and had good results.Out of curiosity, does anyone know what the M16 stocks were made of?
