Paper Patch for Snider

I have a Nepalese Snider with a bright crisp bore. I made cases from brass 24 ga. Hulls. In short I have everything but .600” bullets. My .577” pin gauge makes a good fit over the lands at both ends of the barrel. My Burton balls measure the same .577”. I cast from pure lead. To the subject, has anyone here patched Burtons to .600”?

Not a Burton but...Lyman minie at .580 may give you an idea. To fireform my Magtech cases, I have to shoot them as cast. Accuracy is abysmal and I have been known to miss my 3x5' bullet trap at 100 yards and blow out my tire instead. Once fireformed, the .600 is a finger fit seating operation. Taking the same bullet and 2 wraps of plain old notebook paper got me to .600 and all the sudden it's reasonably accurate. I also have the 600 X-Ring services bullet but I haven't really tested it yet. My British made snider also seems to be more accurate than my Nepalese one. Hope this helps a little and have fun.

Yes this does help. I eyeballed an Accurate Mold and I may go that way. They show a couple with deep lube grooves that weigh under 500g.

The X- ring services mold is also top notch and well worth the money. I don't know who actually produces them for Martyn but they know what they are doing. Accurate is obviously a good choice too.

Just thought of this. Since there is a hollow base, it makes a great place to tuck the tail into. Then I pack it with lube instead of using a grease cookie. About 60 to 62 grains of black powder plus some COW for filler results in a fairly pleasant load. Have fun. Note- this is not the carbine load and will kick the everlivin' stuffing out you in a carbine.
