I thought you guys would enjoy seeing this older DGW bullet mold. It casts a .575 ingot for the 58 caliber rifled muskets. I could only get 20 bullets cast before it got too hot to handle. Darn thing dropped a usable bullet on the first cast!

With rifle in hand, I confidently go forth into the darkness.

Casting gloves would help.

I think the ones already cast will last me the rest of my life. They are pretty chunky and off center. Probably be best in a slingshot or in my canvas tote as an emergency mold in case the yanks come south again!

I have a couple of those for round balls. I have thought about sawing the loop off the handle and turning out some wood handles but I don't use them much. I did make a wood clamp to hold the balls so I could saw the sprue off with a small back saw.

Old Turner made those back when proper molds were hard or impossible to find.  Maybe not perfect but you could shoot that old rifle.

I found them for $20 on Lodgewood Mfg.

I can't wait to throw some ingots downrange!

Comparing these bullets to my British 1862 Enfield cartridges is like night and day.

Turner bought hair straighteners and had them converted to bullet molds early on, that's what that is . Later my uncle Royland made a simple but better mold for him to sell like the ones he included with the rifles he built.
