I recently added a couple of posts to my PB bullet thread about shooting results with a .22. Has any thought ever been given to adding sections to cover .22 and airgun interests? I know this is a cast bullet forum but let's face or it isn't exactly overflowing with new threads. One of the things often stated for lack of participation is people are aging out of the game due to both old age and medical issues but they might still be able to shoot either a .22 or airgun. Maybe it's time to rethink purely cast bullet and branch out at least a little bit. I'm not suggesting it becomes an any type of ammunition forum but maybe giving guys a place to discuss other than just cast bullets would raise some interest. Just a thought.
New Subject Areas For Consideration

Pat,
I think that is a great idea and I think we are already doing it. I think we should encourage more posts on rimfire and air guns to improve participation in the Forum. Joe Brennan posted a series of testing results on his rimfire rifles after he had to stop casting for medical reasons. Now that people have started casting for their airguns the difference is more blurred.
In the past, I don't think we have restricted the topics of threads on rimfire, air guns, and a lot of other things not directly involving cast bullets. The Fouling Shot also has occasionally had articles on air guns. I suspect that Glenn would consider publishing an interesting article on rimfire.
We don't have specific categories for rimfire or air guns listed in the column on the right and I don't think we need one, but "Plinker's Hollow" and "Special Projects" should cover them anyway.
This certainly applies to me right now. I can't shoot at the range but can shoot one of my three airguns in the garage.

Thanks for reply John. I've been around this forum since it's inception and never thought any thread not directly related to cast bullets was welcomed. I remember Joe's threads but considered it just Joe bucking the system. I don'tknow squat about how to run a forum but assume it wouldn't be too hard to add a category specific to airguns and .22s. I felt a little strange posting about a .22 in my thread and maybe other people would hesitate to start a thread or post about shooting them too. George Damron and I were texting about him shooting a cast bullet in a 35 caliber pcp. It was pretty interesting but don't know if he thinks it would be welcomed here. There's also the matter of moderation. What's accepted now might not be in the future. If people had a spot to post about them there'd be no problems down the road. I'd like to hear opinions other than mine to see if it's just me rocking the boat or if there would be an actual interest.

A good friend that shoots all of our local CBA matches also has a passion for .22 rimfire. He shoots a .22 match once a week. If you think that the CBA match gun categories can get a bit crazy, the .22 rimfire crowd is equally crazy with what they spend on guns and gear.

Personally I see too many sections and subsections. If you click "latest" all the latest threads appear. Sections, sub forums, etc are just an antiquated leftover form how things were categorized in the past. Pellet, air gun, and rimfire might be technically off topic but I can see their value as it can help us to understand factors that matter to cast bullets shooting.
If we must have a category IMNSHO General Discussion fits nicely.

It's not that someone couldn't find a category they "might" see as a place that would allow .22 and airgun discussions it's that they don't "know" there's a category that allows .22 and airgun discusssions. I was a little hesitant to post about shooting my CZ not knowing if it was allowed but having been around here since day one and seeing no one else was saying much figured why the hell not. And Mark I agree about all the category nonsense seeming a little antiquated and like you I just click latest but I don't know if everyone does the same. For all intent and purposes General Discussion is all you need. Bottom line it's not like I'm suggesting a total rewrite of the match rules just a little editing of the forum categories. Add one, dump a bunch. That's if it's possible since I'm not doing it or even know how.

Seems like a reasonable topic to just leave under 'general discussion'. Like any other thread, if it doesn't seem interesting you can ignore it. So I'm thinking of starting a new thread related to this.

I agree. I had the .22 reloading bug singing in my ear a year or two ago. Started pricing out dies, cases and NOE solid & H.P. molds. I finally had to say Satan get thee behind me. But he still keeps whispering in my ear. I must be strong. I need more .30 and .458 molds. Umm maybe another time.

I don’t now and never have shot in competition, but I do like to shoot…..anything and everything. But with the price and availability of expendable components today, cast bullet air guns are looking attractive. So I am favor any cast bullet topics.
