Was finally able to try my new .45 colt H.B.W.C. mold. It looks like it might be a good one. 7.5 grs. Unique was a little warm so i can probably load down a bit next outing. No hard extraction, but for target use a little strong. The N.S. Colt did ok but the Ruger B.H. seemed to really like that load. I tried flipping a few of the HBWC's around for a big hollow point. While they look impressive the accuracy fell way off. I had heard of people shooting .38 specials this way and was curious on how they would work. For shooters that like a big meplat these should fill the bill!

These bullets weigh 240grs. They are from a MP mold. I was only able to shoot them at 50 feet. They seemed to shoot the same as my regular load with a RCBS 250 gr. bullet. I'm guessing this would change at a further distance . They are not the most aero dynamic looking. More like oil drums.

How was the point of impact compared to "standard" weight bullets and charges? Is this the NOE bullet?

FWIW - I have an estate mold - Saeco 453 45 WC. Not loaded it yet. Below is some load data for it I gathered from someone on one of the 3 forums. As I recall, it all checks out/is safe (I think I found some data in an old Lyman book). However, al always with Googley-Net data - be safe and check yourself!
Saeco #453
.45 Colt; Titegroup - 4.5grs
Unique - 7.5grs
W231 - 7.0grs
.45AutoRim; Titegroup - 4.0grs*
Unique - 5.0grs
W231 - 5.0grs
Bullseye - 3.5grs**
* This is a bit below Book STD, but it works great in My S&W M1917.
** This is a bit more then a starting load, because the 3.0gr starting load is so slow they tear a hole in the paper rather then cut a clean hole.

Shooting 6.5 grains Unique with the H&G 200 grain semi-wadcutter or the SAECO 954 bullet works well in my Colt New Service, Colt SAA, or S&W (Uberti) Schofield. Light recoil and accurate, try one grain less.

Thanks. The new service was a .455 eley converted to .45 Colt. It was nickle plated at some point and the landyard ring removed. I will look for some lighter loads. Not much info on this type of bullet in my manuals.

Nice shooting sluggo. I got a NS Colt like that with the lanyard loop. Mine's not as pretty bluing as yours. I think both your revolvers shot well. I believe you're right that Unique load is a bit much and I'm surprised it didn't blow the skirt out on the bullets. Try a lesser load of some Bullseye, HP 38, or Red Dot.
