I gave away my PACT years ago, needed to do some MV measures, bought the MAGNETOSPEED, read the instructions ~ 30 times, strapped on the bayonet for an hour or so at home, tried it today.

60 shots chronographed without a hitch, no tripod, no light problems, no crazy readings, it just works. Straps on the muzzle.

At the range I was setting next to a guy using one of these on his AR15. He was complaining that some of his shots were not being recorded. Turns out he was shooting too quickly between shots, not giving the Magnetospeed enough time to record FPS. He slowed down fire rate and machine worked fine.

With the PACT, I could either chronograph or shoot for groups.

After 3 times out, this item lets me do both. I'm still loving it.

I started out with the Pro Chrono several years back.  Once I learned how to get the flight path of the bullet more or less centered in the field of view of the chrono I have had no problems with missed shots or wierd readings either with cast or jacketed bullets.  It also does all the math for you.

Dumped my F3 or whatever its called after 15 or 20 years. I shot it once, just once, in the sky screen support rod.

Bought the V3 from Cabelas with Visa points, got the wireless deal for the phone.

Doesn't work with the app on my phone....

But else I LOVE IT!!!!

I spent some DOUGH on PCP air rifles (a grip of them) and began to smith them for more gusto. Being able to shoot into a bin full of stop material in my home office while making mods and make corrections was indispensible.  Shot maybe 500 pellets for SPEED only and watching for a KNEE in a velocity curve (hitting a power factor). Being able to record MANY strings on a card and review them instantly is fantastic.

LOVE ITTTTTTT

Joe,

Thanks for the report on your test drive.  I have been thinking about getting one.  Great subject for a report for the Fouling Shot.

A comparison between the older style Chroni vs. the MagetoSpeed would be very interesting. Which one is most consistent?

While looking thru Sinclairs catalog I noticed that the MagnetoSpeed is Team Sinclairs PICK.

One bad thing I noticed about my older style Chroni. Shooting thru different areas inside of the V angled rods (high, low, left, right) will cause velocity readings to change.

one would think that mounting a weight on the end of the barrel would change the tuning... or group size .... i bet there is a lot of discussion somewhere on that ...but the otherwise convenience might be worth worrying about that possibility ....   for instance finding a low sd with the MS then tweaking slightly to get best group tuning .  dang kids and their toys !!! ...

The chrono on bbl doesn't seem to affect group size; some representative chrono groups are

0.85 0.8

0.75 0.725

0.5 0.65

1.25 0.55

0.45

0.4

Doesn't affect the zero much at all, maybe no effect. The bayonet is very light.

My air rifles are very very sensitive as they have incorporated suppressor (factory) and are surgically accurate and precise. The mag does nothing to alter both POI nor accuracy nor precision.

I've shot teeny tiny groups with 22 and 25 cal regardless of range literally a hundred fold in a session.

with or w/o the chronic attached, no changes in performance at all.

i did have a leak that was sporadic. That leak (and its accuracy loss)was thought to be harmonics from chrono.

that was disproven. It was simply a heinous little leak hat came and went with temperature.

A bugger to find.

Love the mag mag chrono system,. Except for the apple phone app.

maybe that will get fixed.

After 352.7 measurements, the MSC is working perfectly with the original 9 volt battery now reading 7.6 volts,(a DC battery) on launch. SDs and ESs are smaller than with the obsolete skyscreen models, and velocities are higher. An impressive and great technological marvel. Chronographers of the world, throw awy your tripods!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year;
