Hello,

I have several of these tools. I'm not sure what the tools are called?  We have a lot of experienced people on this forum and am sure they can help.

Where can I go for a book or instructions on using these tools.

I have used the mold on some but would like to find out about the rest of the tool.

Thanks,

Jon

Nowhere, they are now custom made items at a machine shop.

You can try a wire "brad".

Take the decapping stem, with the broken decaping pin removed, into a hardware
store.  Try different diameter wire brads in the cap at the end of the decapping
stem until you find one that is a good fit.

At home cut the pointed end of the wire brad off, leaving a 1/2" pin.
Reassemble and see how it works.

A full package of wire brads is cheap, and you'l have enough spares for life.

I'm not sure what model of Ideal 30-06 Tong Tool I have, but it likes #18x3/4" wire brads cut to 1/2".

Note:  "Wire nails" have a shorter head, and the nail may wobble around in the decapping stem cap.

This also works with standard reloading dies, using nails, cutting off both the pointed end and the
head, cut to length.

Different manufactures use decapping stem caps with different diameter holes, so a nail that works
for one manufacturer's die may not work with another manufacture's die.

So a Picture is worth a thousand words.

Never a true statement was said.

I find an old copy o the fouling shot. #248 Jul-Aug 2017.

On the cover id a Ideal tool #6 for loading a 30-30 Win.  Thank you Rus Arnold for your article.

I shows all the parts necessary to load this tool. So now i know what it look like.  I also dug out a Lyman #32 reloading manual and It had the Loading tools and how to use them.

Also Sluggo's videos are a great help.  There are two linked Videos The second ones shows how to use a Lee trim die to de prime the case...

We have lost a lot of knowledge  over the years.
